Hey ladies,

I have very thin/fine hair and it just seems to be getting thinner and finer every year. It is probably one of my least attractive aesthetic features.

My dream is to have full thick hair. I eat a nice balanced diet, work out and take care of my body. But my hair doesnt seem to care.

I have thought about getting hair extensions, but they just add length, dont they? I dont think they will solve the thinning problem. Will they?

Do any of you have similar issues with your hair? What do you do? :(

I have too much hair if anything (which can also be a problem) but hair extensions stress the scalp and you can end up with less hair.
I'd try
1. A good haircut (hard to find I know...) but it can make a huge difference.
2. Invest in some professional shampoo /conditioner. Kerastace has several specialist range to create Volume and shine. Not cheap but they give results.
3. Indulge in a monthly Indian head massage - a proper one. This will stimulate the scalp to promote healthy hair, but is sooo relaxing anyway.

I have fine hair and it used to be thin....now I have a lot of it. I drink collagen powder drinks and tie my hair up so it's all together (my hairstylist told me that this helps because then all your hair shares the scalp oils). Sounds like snake oil but has helped me.
I use Living Proof volume shampoo and conditioner.
Latisse helps too, but it is expensive.

I have fine thin hair too. I was wondering about Latisse because after I do lashes and brows I put whatever is left on scalp. How long have you been doing this and where do you put it? I use women’s Rogain too.

I put it at my temples where hair is naturally less plentiful. It definitely works. I am literally just putting on the extra from when I do my brows (I won't use Latisse on my lashes).

It's something they have in the US, it makes your lashes a lot thicker, never tried it myself but a few of my friends in the US swear that it is great
Thank you for the response. I did a little search on the internet and apparently it’s classified as drug to treat glaucoma. As a side effect it makes lashes thicker and longer, though also reportedly, causes them to fall off!

"Important Safety Information
LUMIGAN (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% has been reported to cause darkening (pigmentation) of eye color, eyelid skin and eyelashes, as well as increased growth of eyelashes. Pigmentation changes can increase as long as LUMIGAN is used. After stopping LUMIGAN®, darkening of eye color is likely to be permanent while darkening of the eyelid skin and eyelash changes may be reversible. The effects of increased darkening beyond 5 years are not known.

The most common side effects are eye redness, growth of eyelashes, and itchy eyes.“

As I said, no experience of it, but next to the dental office of the dentist I use in LA, there is also a Dr who does fillers, Botox, etc. And he seems to have tons of leaflets out advertising Latisse. I let the girls know, but they all seem to be super happy with it, I have super sensitive eyes and can't even wear allergy tested mascara, so I was never tempted to try it as with my luck, I would end up with bright red eyes.

As stupid as it sounds, find a hair dresser who is good with very fine hair, it's a totally different task than just cutting hair, makes a world of difference, and do have your thyroid checked, after I had mine sorted, my hair is still fine and thin, but I have more of it and it seems to grow much faster, unfortunately that also goes for body hair, so end up spending more for waxing.

I have fine hair, too. A hairdresser who knows how to cut fine hair is the best thing you can do. Of course, as long as you don't have health issues causing hair issues. Fine hair really does require a different cut. This is even more so if you have fine, straight hair. Every single cut can appear if the stylist is not properly trained. Hair products are nice and can be helpful, but an experienced hairdresser is your best bet.

I second that. a good hair cutter is worth gold. indian head massage is also very good whatever your hair type.
