Yeah I'm returning it and getting something else since they don't have another one to ship me out!

Here are some pictures of the bag the last picture is how the trim/straps should be lol....

Eck!! I had a Dior saddle bag with a patent leather strap/trimming and it did this on the patent leather closure! I hate that. I would opt for a different style.

Yeah the closure of the bag is all wrinkled/cracked as well that's how they shipped it to me... I'm wondering if it's the way they put it in the box to ship...But then again they said they had to damage out 2 other bags for the same reason so I'm thinking Nordstrom got a bad batch of this bag. Oh well I'll get something else lol...

I just talked to Gucci's repair center earlier today. I own a Guccisima leather Pelham bag, and the stud at the bottom (bag feet) keeps coming off. I have owned it less than 2 years, rarely use it (as I like my Chanel GST better), and I will be returning it to them again for repairs. In less than 2 years, they will have to service my bag twice.... Not the quality I expected of a $2500 bag. Anyway, I ask the CS how much this repair, though no fault of mine, would cost, and I was told that she's not gonna know until they see and inspect the bag. The first time I sent it to them, it cost me $20 for shipping since I owned it, less than a year then, but this time I will have to pay for repair costs and shipping.

refuse to pay. that is silly

That's a bummer. I had a canvas pelham that I loved and babied, but the wear to the corners were extreme. The corners looked like they were abused even though I hang the bag or carry it and never on the floor. I love the style but it just looks so ragged now I don't even want to carry it out and it's too nice a bag to be a "throw around" bag.... I'm not sure Gucci would repair that kind of wear?

The reason I am here is to figure out if the damage I am seeing in my Gucci is an isolated one. I have one of the old leather bags with bamboo handles. The inside leather has literally melted. Very yucky. Have not had any luck getting this resolved with Gucci. They claim it's an old bag so they are no longer responsible. My point is, this is not a cheap bag. My other leather bags from other high end or "cheap' brands don't have this issue. I really expect better customer service from Gucci.

Just my luck?

I don’t know but I have a very old black leather bag with bamboo handle and no issues. I’ve worn it a zillion times and I’m not the most careful with it. Inside is fine.

When you say old, what age is it?

What is the inside made of?

The bag is over 20 years.

The leather inside is literally melted and leaves black scuff marks on the contents inside.

I have received no satisfactory response from Gucci. They claim it cannot be fixed and it's too old. My position is - for the amount of money I've spent, the bag should last longer than my cheaper leather bags! Very disappointed with Gucci's customer service!

I don’t agree with you. The bag is over 20 years old and things happen. Some bags last and some don’t but more than 20 years I’d say you got your money’s worth. If they can’t fix it they can’t. And I wouldn’t expect them to replace a bag over 20 years old. Sorry you are disappointed.

Bags from the Accessories Collection were lined in leather and it was common for them to peel over time. Bags are always stored properly to prevent this. Your best bet is to scrape off the peeling bits. If you look, you will find a few threads on PF that discuss how to do this.

That is not Gucci's fault. They will welcome you for a repair at a nominal fee, however they were correct in referring you back to Nordstrom as they are the one who sold you the bag. Any claim on manufacturing or quality control issues to Gucci should be coming from them. Also, who's to say that Nordstrom was not the one to damage the bag?

You should ask the person who gave you the gift for a receipt so that you can proceed with Nordstrom's customer service representatives.

And anyway, have you ever kept patent leather products before? Wrinkling is a characteristic of the material...
It’s Gucci bag. Gucci manufacturing responsibility PERIOD!
