Gucci disco soho classic/timeless? Yes or no?

I asked in Saks and was told it was discontinued. She showed me another model, smaller, with the two HUGE GG's on it, in which I had no interest. Didn't bother to get the name, because I don't really follow Gucci and had no plans to ever buy it.

But meanwhile on the Saks website, red Soho is available for pre-order for January and black is available now. So I wonder what the heck they are doing. I own two; they are workhorses and I think they are timeless. I might pre-order the red to add to my collection. I bought a red Mansur Gavriel crossbody bag this year and love the color but the style doesn't work for me. I feel I always have to dig in the bag for something, rather than having it immediately accessible. I never grab that bag when going out.

Is this considered the replacement? I think it's a bit smaller, and I am just not a fan of the big logo. Otherwise, I'd consider it.

Apparently there's another replacement aside from the marmot! It's on the NM website and it's in guccissima leather and similar in shape to the disco. I still prefer the disco overall but it's definitely a lot more understated than the marmot. For some reason I can't find it on the NM site but another member posted it in the soho disco thread I think!

Ooooh, I like that a lot. Thanks. I hope the G's are subtle in the leather, that would be my only concern. That outside pocket is great! Thanks I did not see that anywhere!

Good selection of colors too.

Hi ladies I am reviving this thread because I have been wanting this bag for a while but now that it is being discontinued I am wondering if it will no longer be in/fashionable in a couple of years. Like the OP I want bags that are timeless because I don't buy bags that often. I am also thinking about the Hermes Evelyn, which I know won't go out of style, but it is of course a lot more. I love the Disco because of its size and wearability but I am hesitant because it is being discontinued. Any advice??!!!

I saw that handbag at the Gucci store (South Coast Plaza in Callifornia) and I was not impressed with the leather quality at all!!! I presonally thought it was thin and seemed very fragile. It would not work for me. I like thick leather. I can already see this bag being all faded at the areas where it touches my jeans constantly. But at the end of the day, it is a personal choice. =)

I haven't gone to look for it. If I buy a new one, I'll buy the original. It is still on the website. Thanks for the report.

The Evelyne is amaaaaaaazing. But it's bigger and only does "casual"

It's apples and oranges. The Evelyne is my favorite casual crossbody but it's a bigger bag. I have the pm. I'd use the Disco for carrying edited things or for a night out.
