Hello, I purchased this cameo pendant from Napoli back in 2003 when we were on a Mediterranean cruise.
I have tried cleaning it with a silver polishing cloth to avail as the rope detail is extremely hard to clean.
What would you recommend?

It turned green because it isn't silver. Must have copper or brass base. You can't clean it off but you can have it re-plated.
I have used silver cleaning wipes, they're dry, and a toothpick to get into the rope detail on a David Yurman pendant. Maybe that would work? I bought the wipes at Nordstrom, but they are the red jewelry cleaner brand, Connoisseurs. The cameo is lovely.
You can take a big piece of aluminum foil, add it to a glass pan, add hot water, salt & baking soda. The tarnish will melt off. Make sure it's touching the AF.
It's really cool! I had a solid heavy bangle that was BLACK & it turned it almost normal silver color. With some minor polishing, the bangle was gorgeous again![]()
Thanks. I will try this method if the tarnish cream doesn't work.
What's the cameo part made of? If it is mother of pearl or a porous material I wouldn't recommend the aluminum foil method.
It's really pretty, good luck getting it cleaned.
If it's 925 silver, you can heat it over a fire, then put it in the ethyl alcohol. This is a very good way to clean silver jewelry.
That is a beautiful piece, hope you can get it looking good again.
Be sure the cameo part is kept isolated from any cleaning solution or cloth that you'll apply to the silver. No shell or gemstone should be exposed to that.
Silver will clean up. If it doesn't change, it really wasn't silver despite the stamp. There is some fakery of stamping, unfortunately.
