it does occur naturally, but natural amethyst and sapphires are 10x the price or more. you would have to go out of your way to buy them. 99% of whats out there is heat treated

Your absolutely right, there is a variety of colorless sapphire called geuda,or very cloudy ones these are heat treated and become clear blue or clears any opacity and they become a much clearer and brighter blue stone. A lady that did some last minute exam tutoring for me had actually seen it being done, according to what she saw they heat them up to incredible temparatures where they are mined by the locals....................in old oil barrels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Goes without saying she stood well back as the crystals can 'pop' or explode with a huge force and she did'nt really care for the idea of wearing a red hot sapphire in her shins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!( I would have been stood behind her if I was there!!)xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi hun!!! I still love and miss the trade, and its so nice to pass on info and not just all factual stuff, some of the folklore and legends attatched to stones is just wonderful!! Really awakens the romantic side of my soul(stops my brain getting sludgy too, being stuck in toddler land!)

And yes as soon as you get the ring please post modelling pics,I am dying to see what it looks like on!!!

Brill I can't wait!! My hubby saw it before and said 'thats really, really nice what is it?' (I met him when we were both in the jewellry trade) So he has a bit of an eye for nice unusual stones and not the usual 'big four' when I told him he was very interested and even commented it would go with lots of different clothes(my training is paying off!!!)

So when we have moved house and finances settle a bit......................... I may be in the market!!............................

When I went back to the store to check it out again, I noticed that it is much lighter in color. I wonder if it has anything to do with it being under the lights of the jewelry counter. It is still gorgous though. It looks more like this in color.

Pictures of my ring

The 1st is on my ring finger. I just got my camera, so I'm learning how to use the photo editor. Sorry for the 1st picture since it is very blurry. The second picture looks decent though.

In the case it looked like the color of the stone above, but in the photo it looks more like the stock photo. It is a gorgeous ring. Now, I have to get my nails done to wear it!LOL!!!
