I prefer the violet color also. The gold hardware really stands out. The grape with silver hardware seems kinda blah to me and typical of the metal one would use on a purple handbag.

I bought the violet mini messenger. For me, I prefer the gold hardware with the purple. And it didn't hurt that it was on sale.

Since the grape sutton is on sale on the michael kors website does that typically mean the color is being discontinued on all styles?
It's probably not going to be produced anymore at this time. It may come back at a later date. But usually when colors start getting widely discounted that means they are going out of the current rotation.
Thank you both for the info! ! I guess I will stalk Macy's until they markdown anything in grape. I'm weird and refuse to pay full price for any of my bags or accessories unless it is something in completely blown away by.
