If you're already torn between two brands, I'm not sure introducing more is a good idea! However, that said: you might want to take a look at Jaeger LeCoultre, Chanel, and Chopard which should have some offerings at the same price point as the DateJust. There is no substitute for actually putting them on your wrist; I have loved some watches in photos that did nothing for me once I had them on my wrist, so going to a jewellers and trying them on is essential.

Personally, I would prefer the Rolex over the Cartier-- but they are both excellent watches, and at the end of the day, what matters is what will make your heart sing when you glance at the time. I do think the idea of choosing a mid-size (rather than large or small) dial is good advice, though, especially if it's something you're going to want to wear long-term.

Good luck with your decision, and congratulations on your graduation!

I'm not sure what your wrist/arm size is but look into the Cartier BB 33. For a dressier, daintier version, BB 28. I find the 36 is a bit too oversized (and a bit more trendy than classic) on me -- I'm a 16 in the Cartier Love, for reference.

The best I can recommend you is go to the stores and try them out to see which works and which doesn't. This will give you a more definite answer versus asking which brand we like better. Quite frankly, there will always be two sides so your best bet is actually go to the two stores and look at the watches. Who knows you might choose something that's opposite of what we suggest! Good luck!

Plus 1!!! I totally agree with Solemony! It is hard to gauge on what watch you may be of interest, when you havent tried on any watches that you may really want to own! Just getting peoples opinions on their "likes" versus what you really want will not justify how you will like the watch!
I for one own a Cartier Baloon Bleu 42mm! And I must say I absolutely love my watch!!! I wanted to get a rolex but it just wasnt appealing to my eye! Even though a lot of people own rolexes doesnt mean you have to be like them!
Please do your research and go to a reputable dealer and try on the watches, weather it may be a rolex, cartier or other brand name watch! Like I stated earlier its hard to gauge on watch you may like, when you have not tried them on. GL and keep us updated on your graduation gift :)

My thoughts are the ballon bleu might not be as classic and a rolex?

I'm struggling with what face size to get. I don't want to go too small I do like larger watch faces but my parents think it is too trendy. Thoughts? I plan on keeping this and wearing it forever.

Cartier bb is very trendy but it's not a classic watch and it doesn't hold it's value.

I'd recommend a datejust 36. Its a good size, very classic. I have 2 datejust 36 watches, 1 datejust gold 26, and Daytona, which is 40. I tend to wear my 36 most of the time.

Do you want silver to 2 tone watch? Diamonds? It's better to go to a store and try them on to see what looks best on you.

As per the online seller, swissluxury.com is good for checking the styles and prices. I never bought from that store though.
