There's a fabulous article on Grace Kelly in the just out May "Vanity Fair" that speaks to her her classic style and why that "style still lingers" decades later. Many fabulous photgraphs too, some of which I'd never seen before.
There's not much talk of Hermes, but here's what was included in the article:
"It was during that first pregnancy that Grace turned an accessory by Hermes into a much-coveted cult item. Out in public, she shielded her belly with a large square handbag made of brown pigskin, the Hermes sac a depeches pour dames.
The descendant of a 1930s Hermes saddlebag, it was simple, sensible, and superbly made, yet another example of "always." Grace was carrying the principality's future, and she protected it with something proven from the past. In her honor, Hermes christened this bag "the Kelly."
Where the Hermes Birkin bag, named for the actress Jane Birkin, has something more of bling about it, the Kelly remains the icon of impeccable breeding and quiet good taste."
I certainly can't argue with the author. I'm going to go hug my Kelly, my bit of "always!"
