Gotta give it to Chanel for wiping out resellers

Some of these resellers are out of their minds. Why would I pay $4,000 for a pair of sandals that retails for $1,075?

That is pure greed

I don't shop the preloved/resell market, but there must be someone paying, no?

I guess in some parts of the world, Chanel isn't accessible so gouging works on some.

This was going on in the U.S. A couple of them are doing this out of my city, buying up stock as personal shoppers in dept stores

I don't follow the resell market at all, I can't really comment on it. And tbh, I've always had good or great service in the boutique!

Facebook groups are full of resellers selling current stock for huge markups. I guess they are counting on us being lazy or not knowing how to call for an item. I was talking with a handbag friend, there is a lot of stock sitting in boutiques. Black bags are selling, tons of pink not selling. People are playing it safe . If that stock doesn't sell, Chanel will be courting resellers .

I would assume blacks sell really well and pinks not so much. Pink is such a personal preference and as new generations start collecting, everyone's first choice would be black.

I've been purchasing for over 25 years, so I'm the minority, my least favorite color is black.

Oh, back to your original post, I don't go the reseller route. If what I want is available I buy it. Sometimes I just shop and something crosses my radar, I buy. I really don't need another bag to be honest.
