Got called fat by a sales associate today, so that was fun

sorry you had to go through that
I had a somewhat similar experience with a local jeweler. I'm not that large. Size 8-10 - heavier than I used to be but not obese.
I was inquiring about maybe resizing a gold ring that was tight. He gave me some advice. one suggestion was work out more
that was insulting and I never forgot it - from a sixty-something man
OMG what a jerk.

Say what?????? Was that a store by any chance on Sloane street? Cause it’s two houses away from mine and just reading This made my blood boil and I’m ready to go whoop some a$$ for you!
How dare he!!!!

No, I was on Old Bond Street.

I even liked the bracelet (I think), but I’m not sure now. I may get a diamond Love instead.

Also, thanks everyone. The more I sat with it, the more I started to think maybe I had overreacted to the comment. It’s reassuring to know it would have upset other people, too.

What a JERK!

I stopped shopping at Tiffany's years ago because of their service. Now I am doubly sure I will never shop there again.

I never even got started shopping at Tiffany's for the exact same reason. Every.single.time I went there it was like I was wearing an invisibility cloak. My best guess was that I was a lone female.........all the couples were assisted immediately. Never even got an acknowledgement of "be right with you" . I had finally found some Tiffany that spoke to me in the HardWear collection and I was fully committed to purchasing some pieces, but not after that.

It’s cute on you! And pairs well with the love bangle. You know, check there might be a Tiffany at the airport when you leave (depending on where you are departing from) and get it with a nice discount :graucho:
i Know some Heathrow terminals have both Tiffany and Cartier!
best of luck

Thanks! I actually live in London, so no discount for me. I’ll probably wait and see how I feel about in a few days/weeks and go from there.

My problem is my SO started buying my gifts from there years ago. I now have a collection of Tiffany jewelry that have been worn a few times! A few times when he got me duplicates so I went to do the exchange. Otherwise I've personally never shopped at Tiffany's.

Sadly this doesn’t surprise me at all. Of all the stores in London, the SAs in the Bond St store (on the fine jewellery floors at least, the ones up on the accessories and cheaper floors are lovely) are the snootiest by far. How dare they talk to you like that?☹
I think it looks great on you but I don’t blame you for not wanting to purchase from them. If you did want to try again, some of the staff in Harrods can be dubious but I know some nice ones in Sloane Square. Better yet, if you ever happen to be in Manchester, the whole team are fantastic.

One of my worst shopping experiences at a high end store was on Bond St. It was Hermes. The store didn't have a single customer and yet, no one even spoke to me or my DH. As he held the door open for us to leave, he turned, looked at the no less than 6 SAs and said, 'It's a shame no one works here. I was hoping to find that croc Kelly you've been looking for." BTW, I was carrying a gold Kelly at the time. Go figure. I should add, DH has no intention of buying a croc anything, but I was so proud of him.

OP, I would feel insulted and upset too. You did not overreact. It sounds like you kept your composure and walked out with your dignity (and money!)

I enjoy luxury shopping and there are only two brands I absolutely refuse to buy from. One of them is Tiffany. I was once snubbed when I went in to purchase a specific item. I was alone, well dressed and groomed, the store was not busy, and there were ample SA's. No one would assist me or even acknowledge I was there. I waited near the case where the item was and then I saw group of young SA's at a distance staring at me. When I made eye contact they all averted gazes and scattered. Very awkward and unprofessional! I walked out and have never returned.

High end shopping for items at this price point should be joyous and fun. I hope you will soon find a lovely piece to purchase AND have a wonderful experience in the process.
