Hello all! I've been looking for good clothing brands that are good quality. I've tried searching on google, but every time I do it seems the article is outdated and the brand's quality has gone downhill. Even the "sustainable" section of H&M that I see recommended in a lot of articles is full of clothes that feel cheap and like they wouldn't last one time in the washer. Since I know this forum is also filled with people who favor quality, I wanted to get suggestions/opinions. I know that you can sometimes find a really good piece in a low end store either by chance or if you're in the mood to really and truly hunt for it. I would just like suggestions for brands that have a slim chance of finding a dud.

Thank you in advance!

I like some Eileen fisher and Lafayette 148 (they have a line that is high quality and expensive, but not as pricy as premier designer

john Smedley for sweaters. they ship quickly. Also they have 20-30% sales regularly

akris has a bridge or diffusion line: Akris Punto

brunello used to be affiliated somehow with gunex and Rivamonte brands.

don’t know if Piazza Sempione is still around.

isabelle Marant, theory, APC, (department store brands)

My go-to stores for affordable but good quality clothes are Everlane, Jcrew and Massimo Dutti (also Nordstrom Rack but you asked for brands). Especially on sale, tops and bottoms are in the < $50 zone. I don't think I've spent more than $40 on tops and bottoms in at least a decade. I never shop at H&M, Zara, etc because they just don't tend to last me long.

My favorite jeans are everlane (the style is discontinued)
my favorite sparkly cardigan (a dead ringer for brunello cuchinelli, although It’s synthetic) is from H& M (discontinued)
my favorite sheets (percale, perfect for summer) landsend (discontinued)
I need to look for cos t shirts Bf they too are gone lol.
i used to love Massimo dutti (they used to be sold in a defunct discounter chain called strawberry that made TJ Maxx look like Neiman Marcus) but I can no longer find them. . . .
i do like Vuori sports bras, the ones with strappy backs.

OP, if you find some good buys, pls do update this thread

I would love good quality v neck sweaters not wool or cashmere (it burns my skin).
Not cropped or oversized either.
Found a cableknit version at ralph lauren outlet but the weave feels so loose even after 1 wear. First time i wore it the cuffs & sleeves stretched out.
Very frustrating.

Thank you all for your replies, and I’m looking forward to checking out these stores very soon. Some of them I’ve never heard of before. I know January probably isn’t the best time to shop, but you never know.

I do agree that quality can be hit or miss, which is why I asked for brands or stores that have only a slim chance of having a poor quality item. I know that it will never be 100%.

Thank you all again, and now it’s time for the fun part

COS has nice, clean pieces. Admittedly I feel their older collections are much nicer in terms of style.
I recently discovered a brand called 12STOREEZ and has been happy with their quality and customer service. Price I would say it's mid-range (retail is about $200-$1000) but I was lucky and caught their sale (in fact, still going on I think?) so even better haha.

I’ve been having good luck with sweaters and silk from Quince (online and similar to everlane).

Thank you for replying to this thread. They all seem great. I can’t wait to purchase a piece from them
