Gold GOLD customized Kelly.. Yay or Nay?

What do you think about this customized vintage gold kelly? It made me giddy at first but I don’t know if it’s just an infatuation. Would love to hear your thoughts!

These customized bags are usually not my cup of tea but this one is definitely not from the worst end and is quite artsy. Depending on lifestyle this one could be a fun bag carried with contradictory dressing. I see it more like a modern piece of art rather than a classic Hermès bag.

While I like the general idea of upcycling and extending the usability of an obvious old bag, in this case I prefer it’s original box leather to show its character instead of hiding it. Designing a pattern that jazzes up the bag is one thing (as some of our very own members have done so, very tastefully may I add), splatting gold paints on an old kelly to hide its imperfection is quite another. I would prefer it’s original state, albeit well-used.

I'm ashamed to admit I actually dont mind this, Its loud its fun and a bit quirky.
In fact I personally prefer it to the bags I've seen with cartoons and things on them.

We’re obviously on the minority here but the reason I posted about this is cause it’s the only customized Hermès piece that made me feel something. Though, I’m not sure if that feeling’s just a temporary oomph or if it’s something I’ll be in love with a few months from now. Cartoons and other painted bags are really nice but many many people are doing it. I just feel at this point, every customized Hermès piece is already painted. Gold foiling though, very avant garde for customization.

I mean.. honestly? How much is it? I kind of get the quirk of it as a piece to sit as a statement item in your closet, but I don't see wearing it. If the price isn't insane, and you really like it, I'd say get it just as something to look at as art.

It’s currently on auction. I’m currently deciding on my ceiling price for it. I am open to suggestions regarding ceiling price! Thanks!
