Hi all,

I have a speedy b 30 monogram (made in 2012). It was my sister’s and she gave it to me last year. I love it for travel. It’s one of my favorite bags.

I want a speedy 25 without the bandouliere because it’s a classic. I know I will put it to good use when the world is back to “normal”. It would be good for work, for weekends and be part of my bag rotation.

I’m torn between getting a brand new one for its price now or getting a vintage one for half the price from fashionphile.

If you already have a speedy B, would you get a vintage speedy or spend more for a brand new one? Or would you NOT even buy another one because you already have one?

Any thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

For classic Speedys, it's always better to buy from secondhand, If you are buying a monogram one, it's easier to find one suit your budget in second hand market if you know what you are buying, if you are looking for a Damier Ebene, that's very tricky, but still can find a good one to suit you budget but harder and tricky, if you don't have time or patience, better to buy from the store. Although, from my experience, older canvas are much thicker

for azur, there are not many in second hand market and many of them are not in condition I like.

This was my thought too. Thanks for your input!
Hello there, I know I’m late to reply to your post and you’ve probably already decided on a bag to purchase but I wanted to share my thoughts and experience. I say go for the vintage. The monogram canvas is not nearly as great as the newer bags from today. I have a Palm Springs mini that I’m having issues with the glazing. I’ve already exchanged one once already and my replacement bag is going through some issues too. I take care of my bags and don’t use it daily for it to happen.
Anyway, I purchased a speedy 35 from 1986 and I paid $200 for it. Let me tell you this bag needed some love. She was in bad shape, all of the hardware was pretty much black and rusted. The vachetta was cracked and dry but the canvas was perfect. I decided to try to clean it as best as I could but while cleaning it I was a little too aggressive and accidentally tore off the zipper pull. I knew I wanted to replace it ASAP but I didn’t want the leather to be mismatched. I decided to invest in her and change all of the outside vachetta. She looks amazing!!!! Almost like a brand new bag. I paid $540 to change the vachetta and for under $800 I pretty much got a brand new bag with quality canvas. I attached a photo of her transformation. I hope this helps your decision if you are still on the fence about buying preloved or new. I say preloved is the way to go when it comes to the monogram canvas.

Do they change the tag inside too with the date code?

Hi there,
You can have the inside vachetta replaced too. I’m not sure if they will add a new date code if they do that. I didn’t change the inside leather only the putter parts.

Hi everyone! New to the forum and you are all absolutely amazing with all of your advice and I have learnt so much from reading all of the posts. I'm about to purchase my very first vintage LV and joined the forum to get some tips. I'm eyeing a preloved mono Speedy 25 but would definitely need to be able to carry it cross-body as I have a very active toddler and I need both hands free LOL. I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping someone can give me input on:

1. I'm considering buying the 16 MM adjustable shoulder strap, do you think it would be suitable for the vintage Speedy 25? I'm really tall (6 foot!) so I think I'll also need a chain strap extender so it'll hang properly on me :)))
2. Any other recommendations for vintage LV cross-body that would suit someone who is tall?

Thanks so much!
