Hi all. Just received another confirmation from Global Blue after I mentioned there were no detailed info listed on the REFUND RULES nor their websites. And Hermes SAs & cashiers were not aware of their agreement between GB & AMEX.
Dear Ceci,
Thank you for your email.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Next time if you choose to refund to credit card which is issued by EURO, then we will refund you in EURO.
And we are sorry we will suggest our website to update this information for our customers.
Thank you for your understanding.
Please help us improve our customer services by filling in our questionnaire on the link http://www.global-blue.com/questionnaire

I did not use AMEX for my H purchases in Paris. I have used either VISA or Mastercard and I got back my refund in my local currency. It is not stated as € in my credit card statements.
I think someone in the forum mentioned that H paris does their own refund (not via global blues). Some one can correct me if I'm wrong. Could not exactly remembered but I think I did not received any global blue forms for the H purchases. It's a long receipt with HERMES printed on top and the envelope is addressed to SERVICE DETAXE GROUPE HERMES with a Paris address (happened to keep the spare envelope H gave me).
So sorry that this happened ... Hope you manage to get a satisfying answer from H or AMEX about this...
^ It was exactly a month time for me. Custom stamped & mailed out before flying out CDG on Apr 2. Global Blue credited to my AMEX on May 2. HTH!
katvolution83 said:Gosh. Then mine is taking longer than the usual if the norm is 1 month. I mailed out on the 20th April before flying and I have yet to receive my tax rebate. Tried calling but there isn't any records of anything.
I guess I can only wait?![]()
On the detaxe copy that's attached to your FSH receipt there is the e-mail as well as your file #. if you are really worry about that, you can try to e-mail to check. But I would give at least 6-8 weeks window. I think they are pretty busy these days because they supposed to reply my email within 5 business days, but not after 9 days. There must be a flood of detaxe refund in April. HTH!
I am not 100% sure. Maybe you can contact the person I listed above to reconfirm. Let us know what they say.
Called Global Blue today and asked. They said because the credit card I used is Amex and Amex has requested that all refunds are first to be made in GBP, so Global Blue paid in GBP and then Amex converts GBP to Euro to credit to my credit card. Thus, Global Blue will take some commission for payment made in GBP, and Amex take some comission to convert GBP to Euro....
I asked where I can find this term. The customer service said they could not find this term in the refund form either and asked me to contact Amex directly.![]()
i think banks want to earn from the exchange rate difference. for my country, it's stated on the reverse page of credit card statement that foreign currency transaction (if not in USD) will first be converted to USD before converting to home currency. It used to be direct conversion from foreign currency to home currency. The change happened last year and it applies to both Visa and Mastercard. Hence, the conversion rate for using credit card is worst than before. I try to avoid using credit card overseas where possible. But for such a big ticket item like Hermes, I doubt we can avoid doing so.Called Global Blue today and asked.
