I hope it’s ok to post this. But I’m having glazing falling apart on my October 2019 Mon Monogram wallet.

i went to the store and they said there was no warranty. I guess it’s been maybe 10 years since I last bought anything like this and I thought there was a 2 year warrant. They also said it was $125 to do the reglazing I want to know if that’s accurate and normal these days and this kind ofglaze damage on a wallet that doesn’t really get used that much is normal. My wife got a new multiple about 3 months before I got mine and she doesn’t have this issue in hers.

I totally understand your disappointment, and there are probably many who are way more qualified than me to respond. But I feel like something that goes in and out of a (rear) pocket will see more wear and be prone to something like this. Unless it is not being carried in a pocket? In which case that may change things a little.

I would love to get my DH a LV wallet, but I imagine it won't hold up like his $100 leather one has (three years old, stuffed to the gills, in and out of back pocket, and still looks great).

No it doesn’t really go in and out of pockets. It’s COVID times so mostly it’s home and when it’s not it’s in a large pocket in my purse (LV district mm, or Brooklyn Pm in both cases it’s in a large pocket).
I had a different LV wallet I forgot the name ludlow? And I had that for 10 years and even then the glazing was fine.

I'd take another run at getting this resolved by LV. Did you speak to the sales manager or repair specialist? If so, try again with a nicer SA. I'd be pretty put out if that were my wallet and your usage is as you say it was. It's true there's no warranty, but we know that in the past they were often lenient. It should help that you're a good client.

What's weird is that it is in still in excellent condition on the sides. When heavily used, even those get damaged. But the fold and the corners are the most sensitive points obviously, so it is fair if they assume that it is from wear. There is a chance that they had a bad batch of edge paint when produced, but if you send it in for repair, the workshop will know it for sure. They have a very vast database, and based on the datecode they will instantly know a LOT about the production conditions, materials, etc... if they find out that at that workshop that week they had faulty paint, they will repaint it for free. But they don't have this information in the shop, they only can give a quote with the general repair price. I would still recommend you to send it in for repair, $125 is quite a lot for a wallet (weirdly they have one price for this, it's the same to repaint a $200 wallet and a $1300 bag), and if you are lucky, it will come back with a free-of-charge note. But I wouldn't use it anymore, seems like it's in last minute condition. If the canvas also gets a crack, they won't repair it anymore.

ugh! That’s extremely frustrating! I took it to the 5th ave store in NYC on the weekend. Should I try a different store. That does seem extremely high price. I had all the metal in my key cles replaced for free and that was definitely wear and tear.

it’s really brand new and I wasn’t planing on it being no longer usable after two years of almost no use. What do I do if they say the same? Do I ask for a manager go to a different store?

If one has a good relationship in a local store or the sales people are in a good mood that day, they can waive many types of charges, even the ones that are not optional. You were lucky with the Clès.
I believe you, but from their point of view it looks like that it was heavily used pocket-wise. If you don't have a personal relationship and they don't know how you use your items, then I kind of understand that they gave the general defensive response.
I always say that with these issues kindness with a dash of sadness is the perfect recipe, showing disappointment or being even the least offensive is not good. I don't mean you were like that, I just say that playing this card might work, so with this advice, I would also recommend that you visit another store if you can, preferably in a less busy hour so they will be more calm :)
But if none of these work, I'd still send it for a repair, it really might come back without a bill. The repair assistants in the store see and know much much less than the artisans in the actual repair ateliers.

That’s all good to know. I don’t really shop enough to have a regular SA. I guess the person was just in a good mood when I took my cles in because it definitely wasn’t a relationship.

so basically send it in and hope that the repair artisans will know it’s not from excessive use. Hmmm. I guess I’ve had other LV wallets and haven’t had these glazing issues. Maybe I should bring the other ones in and show that this isn’t the case for my other ones.

I feel you. I only had my 6 key holder for 5 months. The glazing is starting to lift and the thread is coming undone. When I took it to LV they quoted me $120. They said they would have to reglaze the whole thing. I have a mono one from 15 years ago, which the glazing has totally come off and was quoted the same price lol. Wow! That’s crazy! Isn’t it only like $205 for a key cles?!? How is reglazing 60.2% of the cost of the item?

Few years back, I have the same glazing issues on my mon monogram wallet and LV said it’s normal wear and tear. Wallet still in very good condition because I don’t really use it, just kept inside dustbag. Sad, but it happened. I just keep mine as is. Not getting worst, thankfully..

That's a great idea.

Ok. The one on the bottom is the one I had for 10 years and it still doesn’t really need reglazing. This def not normal wear and tear. You can also see the older one has other signs of heavy use like the paint peeling and so on. No such signs on the new one. Because it hasn’t had heavy use. I think I’ll bring in the old one for comparison.
