I'm with you. Though I cannot say I'm particularly enamored of the Seahawks either. Marshawn Lynch's shenanigans during press conferences where he refuses to answer any questions and repeats the same line, "I'm just here so I don't get fined", has gotten old fast.

The arrogance of professional athletes is disgusting. But what can we expect? They are paid insane amounts of money to play a few games a year for the entertainment of millions. That's bound to inflate their sense of importance.

Probably the majority of professional athletes are difficult to say the least. But I recall a well-known sportscaster, Dick Enberg, (who did all sports on tv) say that tennis players were the absolute worst human beings he'd ever met. By far, the worst.

I wonder how 2 big egos like Tom and Gisele make it together? They appear very happy but I know appearances can be deceiving.

I don't think it's as bad as the media and fans make it out to be. Unfortunately there are athletes out there that are jerks with huge egos however, as a whole, athletes are hard workers who are just making a great living doing something they love. I've never understood why fans want to tear them down because they are able to do something that so many people would love to do if they had the ability/opportunity.

One of my brother's very close friends was a pro Tennis player (Wimbledon, US open, etc). and he was/is the nicest, most humble, down to earth guy.

I was surprised to hear that tennis players supposedly have the worst reps. They appear to be the most humble of all athletes, but I realize that's a generalization as well.

Exactly! My dear departed father was a tennis professional and probably one of the humble human beings to ever grace this earth.

I agree that generalizations are dangerous, and I probably shouldn't have mentioned it. There are plenty of exceptions to everything. My sister in her youth went to a lot of tennis camps run by pros and according to her they weren't nice people. Even I (not a tennis fan) knew some of the names. The only name I remember is John Newsome. She said he was just awful to the participants.

But I know there are good and bad in every profession. In Chicago among other athletes, we met Lou Brock (baseball hall of famer) and Walter Payton (football) and both couldn't have been nicer though they were huge stars. My grandson went to a golf tournament and when (not during actual play) he asked for autographs,all the men were super-nice to him. Vijay Singh even gave him a golf ball.

With all that's being said about deflate-gate, at least Tom and Gisele have never been in the tabs for drugs, drunken driving, fights, etc. They seem to have a good family life.

I think what happens is that SOME prof athletes have a very inflated sense of themselves..and this can be due to the fact that they are surrounded by "yes" people, and idolized beyond reality by fans/friends/associates/etc....but this also happens with celebs in every industry....
