Are they less expensive in France, even with the exchange rate? I'm going to Paris in November and want to buy something to remember the trip with. I was thinking an estate jewelry piece because I've read there are lots of estate shops in a particular area- can't recall now- but have always liked the GD bags too.

so my Gerard Darel second hand bag off ebay arrived today and its lovely - 24 hour bag in dusky pink. BUT should I be wary that it could be fake, is there any signs I should look out for? Seems like the real deal to me, are there any ways I can definitely tell? Thanks!

Lucky you! I saw that bag a few days ago. At least I'm sure it was that bag. The one I saw was being auctioned by a guy on behalf of his girlfriend (who had moved on to Balenciaga!) It looked real to me but I'm no expert and only own one GD bag. But your bag looked beautiful. I might have bid on it myself if it had been a different colour. I'd like a tan/chestnut-coloured GD, but might have to wait until I'm back in France. There's a GD stockist near our summer house. But Congrats to you. Enjoy your lovely bag!

Hi Heather - yep thats the one! Im not sure dusky pink is the most practical of colours(!!) but thought it would look gorgeous in the winter with a black coat or something. It didnt come with a dust bag which was disappointing.

I own a 24 in trangerine and a 24 in black. If I could find more colors I would own more. They hold up to the weather, they are soft to the touch and I love them. I bought one without ever seeing them in person and they are great. I own an older one as well in a color that seems to change in certain light. I think they hold up well and are worth the praise they get. Enjoy your bag.

I'm sure your dusky pink bag will be just fine! I used to get paranoid about light-coloured bags, but now I don't bother. My GD is Periwinkle Blue and it looks even better than the day I got it, about eighteen months ago. And dusky pink will turn out to be a great neutral, I'm sure, and terrific with black and brown. I'm sure the leather on my GD has been treated, so maybe that's why it's still looking so good. Also, GD bags are marvellously rain-resistant. Which pleases me, as I live in the west of Ireland! If you're really stuck for a dust-bag you could always use a pillow-case.

I just bought the moon maddalena in noir and I LOVE it! I visited the boutique in the Marais, and Lucie was so nice and helpful. I went first thing after getting there and used my GD almost the entire time...so perfect! I highly recommend it.

i have 2, both 24..they're great. my dusky pink/taupe one is puddler, but my patent one is less so, but still very unstructured. so soft and a great size for general.

i like the 24 hrs. lightweight and sits on the shoulder very comfortably. just be careful not to spill water in it, my mum spilled water and the dye (from the lining) came off and got all over her dress.

What a bummer about your mum's water spillage. I have a 24 Heures in Periwinkle Blue and it has held up superbly. I've had it for over a year now and there is not a spot on it. Granted, mine is calfskin and I think the leather had been treated. But shortly afterwards my husband spilled curry sauce all over it. I thought this would be a tragedy but the marks wiped off like magic. The stain was on the front of the bag, and did not affect the lining at all. Your mum's experience sounds very unfortunate. Hope her dress and the GD are OK now :smile1:

How embarassing!! I went to Paris last week and while on Rue Royal, I popped into the Gerard Store and purchased a red leather BB Bag. I hadn't heard about the designer and I had no idea that this is a diaper bag. And, I don't have a child! I love the soft leather and outside pockets, but now I am not so sure that I want to carry it as a regular handbag. Should I post it online somewhere to sell it (I just registered on this site, so not sure if there's a forum for selling--and am hoping for quick feedback)? I have the original dustbag and receipt. Or, should I just deal with my faux pas and carry it acting as if "BB" stands for "Big Beautiful"?
