I have the Short - not the Shortie, but the Frye Veronica Short. I think they look pretty similar, only the shaft is higher, and so is the heel. I like them, but beware - not all of them look the same. I sent back the first pair I got, labeled Dark Brown Stone Wash. They looked and felt like dull, dirty, flimsy rubber. Returned for the Dark Brown Antique Stone Wash, which looks 10 times better, more like the rich, luxurious leather you expect on a $300 boot. Still, as others have said, these "fashion" Frye's don't compare to their traditional boots - harness, engineer, etc. I had a pair of the Harness boots, several years back, broken in beautifully.... but they were stolen. Now I want to get another pair, but have some questions about size. I am normally a 7 to a 7.5 - my old Frye's were a 7. I have a pair of Frye Cut-outs (western) that are a 7.5. So the first pair of the Veronica's I got a few months back, I ordered in 7.5 and they were waaay too tight. Sent back for the 8, it fits, but almost too loose. THis is what I hate about buying online! Does anyone have both the Veronica and the 12r Harness boot, and are they similarly sized?
I have both, I wear 7.5 in heels and 8 in flats usually. For Veronica, I bought 8 and fit perfectly. Harness 12r had to go with 7.5s. The 7.5s are tight to get on but just need some breaking in.
I just ordered Martina engineer in 8 and now worried they might be big just like the harness 12r were (I returned my first pairs to get the 7.5).
