Get the South Sea Pearl since it is AAA Grade & Biggest in size. Akoya Pearl is nice but smaller in size, Akoya Pearl rarely exceed 9mm, 9-9.5mm is consider big, if you can get a bigger size Akoya Pearl it will cost stellar price.

For pendants are there any other decent online pearl stores other than pearl paradise? I know its probably cool if you live in America but I live in New Zealand and there shipping cost to here is kind of taking the gloss off the prices :-s

kiwijenny, you could try www.pearlstyles.com I used them to ship to Australia and the shipping was pretty reasonable (I think it was about $20 from memory) so maybe be the same to NZ? I know what you mean though I hate buying stuff cheap in the states and then getting stung with the crazy shipping

I would get the south sea...no question. the lustre in a south sea is far above & beyond any other pearl IMO. it is also an investment as they have more nacre than an akoya & have the higher value of being a salt water rather than a freshwater pearl.

it's been 6 months...have you gotten a pendant yet?

You can always buy a necklace and switch out the pearls.
Something like these:

Depending on your age and skin tone, different colored pearls will match.

pearlparadise has single chains and single pearls. Singles in 10 - 12mm ranges from $30 - $400.

Freshwater and Tahitians have more colors. I would stay away from Akoya since their nacre is too thin.
