Wow! But you're right, that's a good trade!

OH! Thx for the edumacation! Are there tons of ppl, like the tournaments you see on cable channels (Scrabble? Chess? Mah jong?!) Does everyone watch/participate, or is it like the participants participate and everyone else has a big party? Sounds like fun!

Ahh yes that makes sense, for hubby it would be a poker tournament. So with domino's their actually playing them? not like when I was a kid Id line them up and knock em' down :giggle:
The last football game we went to I thought we were going to get beat up. It was at the Eagles stadium and hubby was for the opposing team wearing a Giants jersey. That did not go over well, we were harassed badly :cursing:
Yiiikes, sounds scary! Especially with all the crazy stuff that just happened in Philly! (Was it Philly?)[/QUOTE]
The tournies aren’t anything “official”. It’s usually like a get together or bbq and we’ll play partners and the winners either get a pot of cash to split or bragging rights. My hubby always partners with his bestie (35+ year friendship) and my partner is a mutual friend we call Smooth.

It really is. I never enjoyed things like that until hubby, but we do bond fires, music festivals, just hanging out enjoying life.

Honestly, I pretend that I don’t like going because it gives me leverage to get him to go places, but I secretly enjoy it. My DH is a lot of fun and I enjoy things with him like football games that I usually wouldn’t.

IMO certain things may be cultural, you guys aren’t familiar with domino tournaments but like spades it’s common amongst the black community. Kind of like how on friends or how I met your mother white couples will play charades or Pictionary or something. Does that make sense?

I never cared for Pictionary or charades, personally. I love dominoes, though. One of my son's girlfriend is from Puerto Rico & loves to play. Dominoes are big in Puerto Rico & in a lot of the Caribbean Islands. We would often play with the locals after going diving.

I love them too, I don’t care for charades or Pictionary either. I will admit that domino games get intense with us! My favorite part is the exchange of talking **** while playing. I also like being underestimated because I’m a woman then beating the men!

I've so missed this thread. Everyone's furs are sublime. KK I too thought you were going to amazing places on the daily . Wish you lived around these parts so I could spot you and smile. Oh my goodness I want must have a white snuggly fox fur or pink.

Dominoes, haha does it come with slapping each domino down hard with raucous laughter? This is what I remember when the men in our family got together. Fun times.

I bought a mink and have worn it several times but oh boy is it flipping heavy and a little itchy. Is fox heavy too?

I think modern techniques have taken a lot of the weight out of mink actually. I find it fine thesedays but some vintages one heavy.

Agree. I don’t find mink heavy. Perhaps vintage ones were heavier. I have a beaver coat and that’s definitely heavier and warmer than mink.

Some of the old ones were interfaced with jute, even wadded between. Many US and European furriers brought their art from Russia and Eastern Europe in the late 19C /early 20 C where temperatures can be much colder.

We slam! Call money in the craziest ways and just have a great time. I love it, perhaps because it’s an easy going maybe country game. I was raised prim and proper where girls didn’t play games like that.

Whoo, the mention of dominoes in this thread took me back to my childhood! We played it just like the adults did- carrying on until the sun set and we had to go home.

My games these days are the aforementioned, spades and the Cajun form of poker called bourre. It's a much more vicious version of high stakes poker, and I've seen some wild things go down in that game...including one guy literally losing the shirt off his back, and his house :shocked::shocked:
