My 3 new custom made key rings have arrived. I :love::love: them!!!

I'm planning on adding faux fur ball to the raccoon one. I wanted the Coach raccoon key ring but it was sold out so I had one made.

So my Korean & Japanese Hello Kitty key rings now have 2 new sisters - a Vietnamese & Chinese one. :p

1st pic is the 3 new key rings
2nd pic is all my Hello Kitty key rings together

I bought some charms from leatherprince a few years ago, and I happened to checked them out on etsy yesterday and was shocked to see their price increase. What happened to all those under $20 key chains?

Granted, there may be more details in the new horse charms, but I'm not sure that it justifies the price increase. I'm sad that they have decided to price themselves out of the price range of their original customers. :(

Yeah - 70 dollars for a key charm is pretty crazy. They're now in Taiwan too. Taiwan isn't even an expensive city to live in...

Actually, Taipei (I assume that's what you mean since you said city?) is very expensive. Food is cheap but housing is crazy expensive.
If he increased his prices I'm bummed I didn't buy a leatherprince keychain when I first heard about him. :(

Oh wow I first bought key chains from leatherprince and some from their sister store feltprince about seven years ago and I'm really surprised by the price increase! That said, the two original leather key chains I purchased have held up REALLY well over the years; I was using one of them daily for five years before I changed it out two months ago.

I thought they were already in Taiwan when I bought from them about three years ago. Their stuff are now marketed as bag charms, rather than key chains. I think they see a bigger market for people buying pricey bag charms rather than key chains.

I haven't heard of feltprince. I tried to look it up on etsy but can't find it.

Oops - Yeah I was thinking Taipei in my head and assumed that's where they were (except now that I think about it, it might make sense for them to be also in taichung or tainan). Kinda like new yorkers who don't think anything outside of Manhanttan is considered new york kinda thing, I admit I kinda don't care for anything outside of Taipei, having been born there and all :P

You're right, expensive is relative. I personally don't find it expensive, unless you are looking to buy a home in the city center. Singapore, where they were found originally, I do find expensive (although you can also argue that food can actually be quite cheap there as well). Anyway, I wouldn't think that material/labour/rent cost in Taipei would be higher than in Singapore. And even for the benefit of my high doubt, it is higher, it can't be much higher.

I noticed the price increase as well. I can't afford (or fathom) spending $70 on a bag charm. Any other recommendations?

Also, before his shop was closed for a bit, he would not accept any customized pieces. Would love to get something made up!

Hello all,

Was googling Leatherprince's old designs when I came across this. I just placed an order and asked him why the drastic price increase. He said that they did not adjust the price of their goods from 2008-2013 but in the last few years, the prices of the raw material have increased significantly which forces them to pass on this increase to the customers.

It made me wish that I had ordered tonnes more in the past. >.<
