Hi! I am seriously contemplating about selling my BRAND NEW jumbo. I bought it in 2020 at the start of the pandemic but have not worn it at all. So, for those who sold, can you let me know why? Or if I should even sell? I have my medium flap in same configuration ( black caviar in ghw), and am thinking it looks alike, jumbo is heavy, too flashy. Help!

My thought is that larger bags are coming back in style and it would be terrible to sell your bag, and then if you ever wanted one again it would be 3x the price. Why did you get it in the first place? You must have imagined yourself using it?
I agree. Fashion is cyclical. We've been in mini/ small bag trend for quite a while now. And as we move out of the pandemic era, ppl are spending more and more time away from home and carrying a bigger bag becomes necessary.

Well to the OP, I would check out fashion inspiration for the jumbo on Pinterest. And see how others wear theirs. Try your jumbo with different outfits, and perhaps you'll realize why you purchased it. In other words, your decision is your decision ultimately, but give it a bit more time because quick transactions always result in money loss.

I sold mine last year with no regret. I bought it at 2012 and wore it 4-5 times in 10 years. I don't really like the weight and the texture of the leather. It's dull. I have other Chanel bags and I know it's time to move on.

I had a white jumbo with silver hardware that I sold a few years ago. I was too afraid of it getting dirty or color transfer to enjoy using it. I also have a black caviar jumbo with silver hardware (my first Chanel purchase) and the exact same combo in the medium/classic flap size. While I'm currently gravitating more towards the classic size because it's lighter weight and transitions better from day to night IMO, I will never sell my black jumbo. I don't carry my jumbo too often right now, mostly to work on occasion or when I'm running errands and need to carry more with me, it was $5500 when I bought it at the boutique and would never want to pay the current price if I regretted selling it. I've also found my preference seems to ebb and flow where I was all about my jumbo, then minis/wocs, and currently it's the classic size so it's only a matter of time before I'm all about the jumbo again .

I have sold all my jumbos. Personally, I did it because nowadays, I barely carry anything with me, and I prefer small or medium size handbags when it comes to more structured handbags. The only “jumbo” size I own at the moment is my C19 in large. Personally, I don’t feel the jumbos are “flashy” but If you already feel that way about them, it is a good indicator that you may want to sell it ;)

I should add that regardless of what people in fashion say about “big bags coming back” the handbag size should be an option that works for you. Although I prefer now small and medium structured classic flaps, I have always loved and still do big bags as well and still wear them no matter the fashion trend. HTH

I had my black caviar jumbo with ghw for maybe a year and sold it in 2020 for 1k less than I paid for it. I then purchased the same combo in a medium cf & enjoy that size a lot more & use it more often (cost per wear is much better).
I’m short and the jumbo was too big, heavy and bulky on me (the SA convinced me to wear it Parisian style to distribute the weight—shoulder & cross-body split straps). I should never have bought it in the first place but since it fit a lot, I did. I don’t follow trends but rather what works for me and as I get older, I’m gravitating to smaller & lighter bags. No regrets on selling the jumbo and I’ll never purchase it again.
