For those TPFers with both: BIRKIN or KELLY?

I prefer the look of a birkin because I’m a casual gal but there’s no denying the appeal of a shoulder strap. I drive pretty much everywhere so all day carrying isn’t really an issue for me. My only Kelly is a 35 so it’s equally cumbersome but when I had a vintage well used box K28 I ended up selling it because the daintier ladylike look of a smaller Kelly looked weird with my uber casual way of dressing even though it was roughed up. Sold my Chanel reissue for the same reason and only have a mini Chanel for evenings or when I want a small bag. I think Kelly’s are lovely but I need the larger casual sizes to work with my wardrobe. You gotta do what works for you!

I only buy Kellies. I have tried on many many Birkins, but I hate having to carry a bag in my hand. That’s the only reason. It’s just a deal breaker. I need a Kelly with a strap.

The only kind of bag I can tolerate having to carry in my hands is a clutch for an evening, and even then, it spends a lot of time being put down.

But for an every day… no way am I carrying a bag in my hands all day. It’s one thing to carry it from a car to restaurant, but walking around all day… gosh no.
For formal events I like clutches that have a small strap so that the bag "hugs" under my arm. Judith Lieber usually has these straps that disappear into the bag when not in use.
