I'm not a complete WIS yet, but I think I'm getting there...

Why is it that interest for watches is only perceived as a male thing?
I'm a woman and a looove beautiful watches, but of course - I love them more for their design outside, not so much for the machinery inside.

I noticed that, too! :p I have no idea...I think women can appreciate a fine watch. Maybe because we don't like to "tinker" with them as much? But when I watched the video on the movement of a Rolex Oyster and it "came to life" I was in awe. I would never take my watches apart, though!

I think it's for that situation they described in the video - some women buy an automatic watch and return it the next week to exchange for the quartz. In the watch world, a love of quartz = not serious WIS.

All of my girlfriends would prefer new shoes or handbag to a watch. Most of them don't own a watch. Almost all of the men I know wear one.

Maybe it's a love for the mechanical aspects of it ? Boys and their toys ! ;)

I don't think I could really get into watches as much as bags/shoes. CARS on the other hand.. :p
