In an effort to distract myself from all the crazy news, I thought I'd start a thread re: scarves. I love going through the scarf of the day thread and seeing all your beautiful scarves. It got me thinking about my own collection which has changed through the years. There are scarves I love but can't wear (Patterns and color look terrible on me), scarves I no longer wear but can't part with, scarves that I use constantly, scarves associated with good and bad times in my life and scarves that will forever be on my wish list.

I know it may be impossible to choose but for all you scarfies out there I’d love to know:

1) What is your all time favorite scarf (color way, pattern, etc ) whether you own it or not?
2) What is your most used scarf?
3) What is your most memorable scarf (whether it was your first, handed down from a loved one, or one that you bought during a happy time or in a memorable place?

I'll start.

1) My All Time favorite from a design perspective is a tie (I know I'm cheating) - Dans Un Jardin (have the blue but love every CW and Peuple du Vent (sold my black silk but have it in cashmere). Honorable mention: Hermes La Pegase D'Hermes in Ultraviolet (sadly I do not own this pattern as I had the green one and it looked terrible on me so I had to sell it but always wanted the ultraviolet)
2) Most Used: Jungle Love in noir - recently lost and then my DH surprised me with another one for Christmas - posted a thread on this recently
3) Most Memorable - Le Songe De Licorne in white (first hermes item ever purchased in Paris and started my descent down the H slippery slope) - most of you have already seen this photo but this is one scarf I would never sell

Ok I will play. I hate taking selfies, so all flat pics. Apologies for pic size.

1. My most favorite scarf is a tie, weirdly enough between my least expensive scarf and my most expensive scarf. Les Perles De Turkana ($80) tickles me with its quirkiness and its shades of purple. My ELEK CSGM (not willing to admit the crazy money I spent to get it) pleases me because it took me more than 2 years to figure out what colorway would work for me. I hate orange in my scarves, but low and behold, the final selection has tons of orange. I had not considered this colorway because of my antipathy to orange, but I gradually fell in love. Now it brings me such joy. Yes. I am drawn to scarves with in your face color.

2 My most used scarf is one of my least favorites. I think of it as my bland scarf--my invisibility cloak. I wear my Peuple du Vent CSGM to the Cinebistro which is always freezing all year round. Cinebistro is one of those theaters in which you can eat a full meal in your seat as you watch the movie (DH loves doing this, me not so much). So I figure if I drop food on this dark busy pattern it won't show. What you are looking at is a $900 table cloth. The fact that I wear my least precious item the most is not lost on me.

Edit: Found a rare selfie in the files.

3. My most memorable scarf is La Tour Eiffel s'Envole. It was planned to be a scarf on site as I purchased it right before my first trip to Paris. I thought I would try to wear the same scarf every day but do a different tie every day to build up my non existent tying skills. I tried the friendship knot the first day, and was sufficient discouraged that I threw in the towel on my skill development project. Now that scarf lives in a fixation system on the wall of our exercise room as a sweet reminder of a lovely vacation. (The picture below is the purchase picture-not my fixation kit).

Love your choices and your reasoning, made me chuckle with the $900 table cloth

I tried to start mine last night but then had to troubleshoot something.

1) What is your all time favorite scarf (color way, pattern, etc ) whether you own it or not?
Can't whittle these down so SORRY! I try only to buy 'my new favourite scarf' every time I buy a scarf but I marvel at the beauty of:
Passage a Moscou (pale apricot). I think I bought my mother the taupe 2009 and I knew it didn't really suit me but years later I would have bought any cw preloved just to have one myself. I really love my 'neutral' and it can be a 'holiday scarf' without it being a typical holiday scarf.
La Femme aux Semelle de Vent (I like every colour, but I only own 2 x 90s, my maximum per season limit at the time).
Pagase d'Hermes (fuchsia, gold or black) because it's such a beautiful rendition of Hermes' winged horse Pegasus, and because it reminds me of da Vinci's The Vitruvian Man (I could go into why that's so important to me but I won't ha).
Zebra Pegasus - for the 1970s retro feel and the way it ties (I have 5 over different formats). I don't think Alice Shirley is the best artist of all time but I think most her designs translate so well into wearable scarves and it makes a most wonderful and versatile CSGM.
Flânerie de Versaille in the dark 'Bleu Marine' and Jaune Vif which is like the Kings bedroom by night and reminds me of family holidays that ended up in Paris and naturally by extension day trips to Versailles
Tigre du Bengale Had to have Dallet and I love the 'sunset' cw and the 'natural' just wish I had the purple too.
There are plenty of others. Even Plume en Fetes from this season (SS2020) is so breathtaking, so many wonderful cws, and the delicacy echoing my oldest scarf (Plumes 1953 which is also very beautiful)- PeF reminds me of a Russian fairy story about sons being thrown feathers and having to follow their (very different) paths in life. Plus, of course life's a party (although perhaps not at the moment).
Moussies and CSGM would have to make this category for me to buy because I don't wear these as much as 90s or 70s.

2) What is your most used scarf?
Ndop
in the dark 'masculine colours'. My power scarf, when I'm not sure of the 'audience' or want 'no messing' I wear this.
Tyger Tyger in the inky dark colours (grey tiger). My have to get dressed in a hurry winter scarf.
Iris in the 'greens' and the 'reds', pretty much all year round.
Zenobie in the 'dark reds'
Jungle Love rainbow in the greens with navy border How did I live without this scarf?
Cavaliers du Caucase could have ended up in any category, but since I've worn both mine consistently (dark red/grey/gold and 'peacock' colours).

3) What is your most memorable scarf (whether it was your first, handed down from a loved one, or one that you bought during a happy time or in a memorable place?
Voyage a Pytheas
- because my mother bought it for me on our last 'holiday' together in Nice (although she would gift me things she already had, she was certainly not in the habit of buying me H new) and although not bought in Marseilles, close enough. It has all the countries my family's lived so pretty much Voyage a Papertiger .
Acte III, Scene 1, La Clairiere Another scarf design I have a few of, and very beautiful too I wasn't sure if I should put it into the first category but I've played Puck twice in different productions and also Titania so naturally I had to have it. My all red is probably my most worn.
The scarves I was bought as gifts or 'good buys' because they remind me very much of the people that gave them to me or let me have them at a nominal price. There are quite a few and some are tPFers who know already who they are.

WOW - love your choices. I've never seen Les Perles de Turkana in this CW - LOVE the purple/pink and cream - it's STUNNING. ELDK is definitely a favorite. I had one in the orange silk but sadly, it washed me out. I look much better in cooler tones.

We are twins on People du vent. Love the design but admit that there are better colorways in this design. However, this CW surprisingly with almost everything. LOL on the tablecloth comment.

La Tour Eiffel s'Envole is the perfect scarf to remember a Paris trip!

Jyyanks, love your idea for this new thread to distract us and let us think of something else for a change... Will certainly come back to share some of my treasures. Yours are lovely!! Enjoyed the eye candy and stories so much!!:flowers:

Thank you @Sammy Royal. All this news is so distressing that it's nice to escape in in this forum filled with beauty and storytelling! I'm looking forward to seeing your choices.

Thank you for starting this thread. I can see why you chose each one in the different categories.

You're very welcome. I did search before posting and found a similar thread for bags but not scarves. It's funny because as @Cordeliere just proved, one's most used scarf is not always a favorite!!! Can't wait to see what everyone picks.

I totally understand having multiple favorites!! I struggles on the first one too and many of she scarves you posted above were also on my initial list (Zebra Pegasus, La Femme and Cavaliers is another favorite) and Pegase in that CW is just simply AMAZING - swoon! One day I vow will own that design again but I have to wait until I start wearing silks again.

I totally need a power scarf! Usually my scarves "soften" my look but I need one to wear on days that I need to kick some butt. Love Tyger Tyger and hope to get it in a CSGM as I'm downsizing my silks for other people to enjoy!

I love all the the stories you posted with "most memorable". Voyage a Papertiger is simply amazing. I usually buy H scarves when I visit other countries but if there was a scarf that depicted several places that I either visited or lived in, I would treasure it immensely, especially if it was given to me by a loved one!

What a great idea! Thanks so much for starting this thread. Now I have to go and do some thinking and arrange.
But right of the bat- Jungle Love in Noir 140 is easily either most loved v most used - Hmmmmm......

We are twins on People du vent. Love the design but admit that there are better colorways in this design. However, this CW surprisingly with almost everything. LOL on the tablecloth comment.
.

I have a girlfriend who has your colorway. One day we sat outside in a bar and compared the colors all the little animals. It was very fun. In general I like the overall look of your colorway much better (purple and green make my heart pitter patter) and my friend liked my overall colorway better as she is a red head. I guess the grass is always greener.

I tried to start mine last night but then had to troubleshoot something.

in the dark 'masculine colours'.

Bumping this thread, a great alleviator of guilt (or tool) for those of us who have conflicting emotions between cost per wear v most collectable/desirable

and also having to add, after noticing I showed Modernisme Tropical in Chartreuse as a pic but didn't actually mention it in my 'Most Used' category. This Summer still one of my most used scarves as was Jungle Love Rainbow and CdC in 'peacock' colours. Had good use of both my Plume en Fetes, so summery, both with their white backgrounds, although haven't somehow pulled the trigger on a CSGM. Surprise hit this Summer, one of my Au Bout du Monde mostly pinks and blues, Haven't really crossed-over to Winter scarves yet.

1) What is your all time favorite scarf (color way, pattern, etc ) whether you own it or not?

The commemorative Canada limited 90cm Into the Wild 90cm. (Owned)

2) What is your most used scarf?

Quadridge black jacquard 90cm

3) What is your most memorable scarf (whether it was your first, handed down from a loved one, or one that you bought during a happy time or in a memorable place?

It isn’t from H but it is a hand painted scarf that I bought from a Native American museum in Banff. The painting is of bison and wild horses. It was on display but I asked the museum curator if I could purchase it because it was the most amazing scarf I’ve ever seen.

Could you please post a picture of your Native American hand painted scarf?
Also modeling shots of all theses faves would be great!

I can see why you love that Jungle Love. It really is special. I didn’t give it a 2nd glance when flat, but when tied, wow!

Nice idea for thread..I will post after ruminating a bit.
