I use two twillies sometimes but, most times I prefer carrying my Birkins without twillies wrapped around the handles.

If your B is in a lighter color, use two. You would want both handles to have the same wear or else it would be a nightmare!
Both. I am all for protecting the handles from grease, sweat, and worse for this pandemic, alcohol.
For light color B I use two. For dark color B usually just one and on the front handle.
Both! I want to protect the handles. I worry that if I only have one wrapped, the handles will have unequal wear and tear.
I use two to protect the handles. Funny thing happened today, I had two different people stop me to say they loved how I had decorated my handbag with "silk scarfs". The twillys got the compliments today, not the Birkin!

I just use only one twilly on the front handle of my Black Birkin 35 for decorative purposes only

Both! I have a set of matching twillies when I suspect my hands are putting the handles at risk (e.g. sweating in summer, hand cream in winter, or sanitiser in pandemic)... Otherwise I have a further two twillies that are unique, to be used on the front handle only, so I get 3 looks with only 4 twillies 
Away from protecting handles, I think twillies are a great way to tie your bag in with your outfit. For example your bag is blue, your outfit is pink so you use a pink and blue twilly to make it all work together!
Love love my twillies for this reason! They're also fantastic to add a pop of colour if your outfit is grey and your bag black... In which case doesn't matter if you use one or two

I like the cleaner look without twillies, but protecting the handles is more important to me. Most of my bags show little to no wear, even after years of use and ownership.how about NO twillies at all?

I had the same thought (about using 2 twillies) cause I got the fauve arena faubourg and it would drive me crazy if the two handles patina'ed at different stages .. lol .. speaking of which, I'm totally in love with the twillies you've used on your gold Birkin! I use two on lighter colors. And one on noir. It’s all about protecting the handles. And as frenchcitygirl said above, it’s a neat way of tying in your bag with your outfit.
