Hi I need opinions please as this is my first YSL!

I have heard the sunset is on the heavier side so I’m leaning towards the envelope. I am also debating on black on black or gold hardware. This would be my every day bag and I want to be able to use it from day to night. I don’t carry much (I even considered the mini lou camera bag but that seems too small)
I carry: cards/cash, lipstick, keys, phone, glasses, phone charger, AirPods, tampon, maybe a compact.
Thank you for your help!

Hello, can someone who has owned an envelope bag please comment your experiences with the quality  I’m also looking to purchase my first YSL bag and love the look of the envelope bag but kinda concerned with the whole wear and tear thing regarding the edges and tip of the bag! It would super helpful to know if the quality issue was just a small batch or a common one

Hi! I’m new here and can’t create a thread yet. I just bought a medium sunset bag in dark beige croc leather in GHW and a black medium envelope with GHW from Saks off 5th and was wondering which one I should keep. I am still within the return window. Ideally I would like the bag to double as an everyday bag and a night/ formal event bag. However, the more I read the forums, it seems that the YSL kate is a better option. I have a Gucci marmont that I use more often as a day bag so being able to double as a night/formal/ wedding type event bag is important for me. I like the envelope bag but the super shiny GHW bothers me a bit. Can someone share their thoughts please? Which one should I keep or should I return both and look for something else?? I am very confused on which bag to get… Thank you!

I have a medium envelope in dark beige. The leather is like caviar leather. The bag is really structured and stiff, which makes it really durable. If you prefer a softer, plush leather I would go with the puffer. I've had no issues with any of my YSL bags, but I do baby them. I don't own the sunset, so can't comment on that.

Have you used your envelope bags more casually? I feel like the shiny GHW attracts unwanted attention in a more casual setting. I do like the caviar leather since it feels durable. Why is choosing one so hard?! I don’t want to keep something that will just sit in my closet unused. It has happened before and I regret spending so much money just to have something sit there for years… I try to rotate and use all my bags as much as I can now which is why I want a more versatile piece.

I use all my bags casually and rotate them all. If I don't want the logo showing, I just wear it towards my body and have the back of the bag facing out. Maybe you should go see it in store and see how you like it.

Thank you! I have the envelope bag with me now. Waiting for the sunset to arrive then decide what to do before the return period closes.

I’m partial to the envelope line! I have the small envelope in black with SHW. It can be dressed up or down. I felt the same with the gold hardware. It’s very bright and there is a lot of it in the medium envelope due to the double chain and larger logo. I felt like I was able to get away with it in the mini Lou camera bag. Much smaller logo and single chain. Would you be open to silver or black hardware on the envelope? I think the sunset bag is very pretty too but I don’t have any experience with it. Keep us posted!

Thank you for sharing! I thought about the envelope in the SHW as well. Not sure about black since I am afraid of the color chipping but it does look nice & different. My Gucci marmont is the Aria collection and in the SHW. Altho it is not as shiny as the gold or silver hw in the YSL envelope bag. More toned down. I was thinking about variety and evening/ formal events which is why I got the envelope in the GHW. My concern with the sunset bag is that it might not suit more formal events altho I don’t have a lot of those to attend these days anyway. I will wait for the sunset bag to arrive and decide.

The Sunset is indeed heavy, but it's the perfect day & night bag - I'll give it that. I have it in black + GHW, and as versatile as it is in terms of style, it really digs in my shoulder when I carry it around all day so I don't reach for it as often as I'd like. Maybe depends on what gap you are filling in your closet/collection, I feel like it's easier to get more use out of the envelope (vs. a beige croc embossed). It also has a more classic silhoutte vs
the structured Sunset that's starting to look a little dated. The Sunset to me, feels like like it's better if it's top-handle. If it were me, I'd probably pick the envelope, especially if it was any cheaper. Hope that helps!

Thanks for sharing. Appreciate it

The sunset bag arrived!! Here are the pics. I am torn as they are both so beautiful!! Which one would you choose if you can only keep one? So tempted to keep both but not sure if both of them will get used as much as I want to. Please help! TIA.
Do you have other dressier bags in your wardrobe in beige or black of similar size and function? I would keep the one I think better fits a gap in my collection. If no difference there then I think keep the black. Personal preference I prefer croc embossed in black, white, gray and pink, for some reason I don't want it in beige
