My first Hermes was a birkin, I just walk into the store in Beverly Hills and luckily saw my rosy 35cm and bought it. There are chances to buy a birkin in the store occasionally.
However, you can't order a birkin in the US now unless you are a VIP.

Wish you get your dream birkin soon!:laugh:

Dear LUVNPIGEE, Guess what? I did't get the Birkin, But, a big "BUT"... I walked into the Hermes shop in London and I got an offer to have the Black colour (Box swift leather) 32cm Kelly...OMG, I cannot believed this...it is like having a dream!! I never bought any Hermes leather item before,not even a note book!! :yahoo:

I will take some photos to "celebrate" this big purchase...how can I post it..I'm too new.
B the way, there a few Kelly and Birkin in London New Hermes shop and waiting for someone to bring home... anyone can give a try, good luck!!:wlae:

I rang the Manchester store and Sloane St today and they had no kellys for purchase, they said that they were in the process of ringing clients about their orders coming in from Paris. They said that the status of whats in depends on each day, eg if you walk into a store where someone has decided to not buy the bag you ordered then i think you can just go ahead and purchase it! (I think thats right!? please tell me if im wrong!) I think a lot is down to if your in the right place at the right time! GL x

I don't know because this is the first time I purchase leather goods from Hermes. Actually, the SA is very very kind and he help me to ask the manager if there is any Birkin or Kelly. The manager is also a very sweet girl and she told me if I don't mind, there is a 32cm Kelly in Black swift leather, (which she thought it's a bit over-size to me as I'm quite petit). Eventually, she asked the SA to go downstair to get "the small box, not the big box". Accordingly to what I was told, if you want some "exotic" leather, you will stand a higher chance to get it in the next season. Anyway, good luck to all Hermes girls...:okay::tup:

Muistrawberry, the question of Birkin vs. Kelly comes down to your personal style and your life- some people like that Kelly comes with a shoulder strap, and can be dressed up, but others like that Birkin is easier to get in and out of, and more of a tote style bag for day. Only you can decide which one is right for you, both are beautiful!

Thanks for your advise.
At first, walked in the shop and asked for a Birkin (never been to Hermes shop before), with an offer to have a Kelly, over the moon, didn't think deep enough, paid and gone...:yes:
now not sure this is the right bag for me...big sighhhhhh :crybaby:

oh, but you will be SO happy with your kelly! in point of fact, most of us are not able to stop at one hermes bag - and many people have both kellys and birkins in their closets. so enjoy your kelly, and make the next one a birkin! you probably won't be able to order a birkin, but if you go to the store from time to time you may eventually be there when one is available. and there are also several resellers who carry only authentic merchandise, so even if you don't get one from the store you should be able to find one that way.

personally, i LOVE the kelly - it's so elegant worn on the arm, and easy to go hands-free with the shoulder strap.
