Lucky you! Congratulations! Your story doesn't oftenly happen in H..but it does..once in a while! An SA asked me before if I lived in the area and where I lived because she wanted to cater to local clients and develop a list of loyal customers at that time (she was a new SA then). Are you local to your store too? Also, your timing might have been perfect. My hubby was having a friendly chat with our SA (this SA sold us a B previously) before while purchasing something about a month after Christmas. He asked her: "So, do you have any Birkins in the back at this time?" She replied: "Sorry, I don't. I can sell you any (insert name of another highly coveted purse) that your wife might like but the Birkins are gone. My manager pushed us to sell it all before Christmas!". Anyway, enjoy your new purse!

Thank you! Oh wow that is very interesting! On the first day we tried to get the bag the SA made it seem like it was impossible to get a B that time of year because everyone wants one for Christmas. So glad it all worked out though and I listened to my husband to try one more time :)

Congratulations on your gorgeous B and upcoming baby! Asking for the address is, like what others said, common practice in US... and another idea that you got offered one is because of the baby bump too, assuming you’re showing already coz you’re due March. My SA was happy to offer me a B when I dropped by one time with my humongous belly (I was 7-8 months preggy that time) even though I haven’t seen/purchased anything from her for almost a year. It was her push present for me. Some SAs I think are sentimental like that.

Thank you, congrats to you as well! That’s a good point, I didn’t even consider that the baby bump could have helped in this situation.

Hi, I’m not sure if this is the appropriate place for this but I had a few questions regarding my first Birkin Bag purchase! Over Christmas, my husband and I were celebrating our Babymoon in NYC and he generously told me that he would like to purchase me a Birkin bag as my push present. He knew I always admired them but never dreamed I would have one of my own! I told him how sweet that was but they are very hard to get. He said he understood but wanted to give it a try anyway. So that day we walked into Hermes on Madison Ave. and asked the SA if she had any Birkin bags available? Of course her answer was no and she couldn’t give us anymore info. as to when/if one would become available. The next day my sweet husband said let’s go back and try again although I was hesitant I eventually agreed. This day a different SA helped us and she asked what brought us in today? I told her that we were looking to purchase a Birkin bag. She then asked for my name and said she would be back. I assume she took my name to look up my purchase history which I was nervous about because I didn’t have any. About 5 mins later she comes back and said she might have something available and then asked for my home address and if I was looking for a neutral or color and what size? I told her I would like a neutral and a 25 or 30 size.
My question though is why she asked for my home address before she offered me a bag especially given I had no sales history?
She then comes back about 5 mins later and says she has a Birkin we might be interested in and proceeded to take us to a hidden room made of mirror doors.
After that she presents us a Birkin Gold ToGo 30!! It was truly magical and everything I could have ever dreamed of for my first Birkin and made such a wonderful memory in NYC! I still feel so incredibly lucky that I was offered one and able to purchase it but honestly am shocked that she still offered us one given no sales history. Does this happen regularly?
Beautiful bag, that is one of my favorites!

So nice to read such a positive experience. I say that to everyone who wants to rush to the reseller route. Try the boutiques and be honest.

Absolutely! There’s something so special (especially when it’s your first B) about getting taken to the back room and getting presented the bag at the boutique :) An experience I’ll always remember!
