Hi, I’m not sure if this is the appropriate place for this but I had a few questions regarding my first Birkin Bag purchase! Over Christmas, my husband and I were celebrating our Babymoon in NYC and he generously told me that he would like to purchase me a Birkin bag as my push present. He knew I always admired them but never dreamed I would have one of my own! I told him how sweet that was but they are very hard to get. He said he understood but wanted to give it a try anyway. So that day we walked into Hermes on Madison Ave. and asked the SA if she had any Birkin bags available? Of course her answer was no and she couldn’t give us anymore info. as to when/if one would become available. The next day my sweet husband said let’s go back and try again although I was hesitant I eventually agreed. This day a different SA helped us and she asked what brought us in today? I told her that we were looking to purchase a Birkin bag. She then asked for my name and said she would be back. I assume she took my name to look up my purchase history which I was nervous about because I didn’t have any. About 5 mins later she comes back and said she might have something available and then asked for my home address and if I was looking for a neutral or color and what size? I told her I would like a neutral and a 25 or 30 size.
My question though is why she asked for my home address before she offered me a bag especially given I had no sales history?
She then comes back about 5 mins later and says she has a Birkin we might be interested in and proceeded to take us to a hidden room made of mirror doors.
After that she presents us a Birkin Gold ToGo 30!! It was truly magical and everything I could have ever dreamed of for my first Birkin and made such a wonderful memory in NYC! I still feel so incredibly lucky that I was offered one and able to purchase it but honestly am shocked that she still offered us one given no sales history. Does this happen regularly?
