Personally I have built my H bag wardrobe around classic neutrals first (and they are the bags I reach for most), only branching out to other colours once I had laid that neutral foundation, so I’d go with the noir in your shoes. You’d get so much use from it and it will get better with age. Bambou is a beautiful colour but I’d be hesitating given you find BV green hard to style. Love @tensgrl’s suggestion of a SLG in a bright - it’s actually a practical choice in SLG!

I have a Kelly 32 Togo gold/gold. I am about to buy in first birkin. The price is within a few hundred dollars of each other so that’s not a factor. Both are Togo leather.

B30

Black with GHW
Bamboo (green) with PHW

Black feels classic and green feels fun. I have a green bag (bottega mini Jodie in parakeet) and I don’t wear her often because I find her hard to style color wise but every time I do, she makes me so happy.

Thoughts?
Unless you have already been carrying a bag in a green tone (similar to bamboo) for years now..and that is really your favorite color, I would pick noir. Noir/black is a neutral one and is a timeless classic.

And even if bamboo/green is your favorite color and you have already been carrying a bag similar to that color for years now, remember that there will be places or events that that color might be "too loud" to use.....like in a funeral or a board meeting. So if that is your only B..or you plan for that to be your only B, you might want to factor that in in your decision.
I learned from experience in H that there are colors that are very attractive and are very pleasing to look at---but realistically, are difficult to use and blend in with my current style and wardrobe. I just admire them and forego buying them. In my experience, if I am unsure, I pick a neutral color.

Would you consider waiting a bit and finding a neutral that's a bit more exciting to you?
Maybe a dark green like Vert Gris or Vert Cypress that would give you a bit of color but would be much easier to style than Bambou.
Agree

i would choose neither noir nor bamboo

i AM a neutrals girl and I rarely wear black bags. I have a black Barenia B30 and a BBK28 retourne, but they are almost safety bags. I prefer lighter neutrals.

if you love a pop color like bamboo, but never wear it, then one bag in that color is enough

I would definitely begin with Noir. I like the more fun colors of Birkins but honestly, I carry my Black Birkins much more frequently. After Black, it’s easier to have the more fun colors, even if you just admire them in your wardrobe cases more than you wear them. They can become more like accent pieces. That’s my experience with Birkins but do keep us posted on which one you bring home.☺️

When I was an H newbie, I thought i would go for a Black Kelly and a Gold Birkin.

As it turns out, I have a Gold Kelly and a Black Birkin!

It's a great combo and I still think if I was only going to keep 2, I would keep these.

I actually have both colours in my collection:
B30 Noir GHW
B30 Vert Vertigo Verso PHW
B25 Menthe GHW

My green ones are not as bright as Bamboo, but trust me when I say this, that green is very versatile and I wear mine with almost everything (in fact, now that I think about it, I wear my green one more than my black one).

But, and I understand were you're coming from here, if this is your first B and you already own a gold K, going with black sounds like just the right option for you - you can always add one in a bright color later on.
