I have a Kelly 32 Togo gold/gold. I am about to buy in first birkin. The price is within a few hundred dollars of each other so that’s not a factor. Both are Togo leather.

B30

Black with GHW
Bamboo (green) with PHW

Black feels classic and green feels fun. I have a green bag (bottega mini Jodie in parakeet) and I don’t wear her often because I find her hard to style color wise but every time I do, she makes me so happy.

Thoughts?

Noir will offer the most versatility because it just goes with everything & is a workhorse bag in
many ways for many all year long & the size is a practical size (not as heavy as the 35)
If you are being challenged by the mini Jodie in Parakeet likely the same challenges will present
themselves with the Bamboo, JMO
What are the colors in your wardrobe?
Do you wear a lot of colors that would work with Bamboo?

I have had both colors in a Birkin 30. My Bambou with GHW is from FSH. I felt that I needed to Noir so I bought a pre-owned Noir with PHW on Vestaire. It was in pretty bad shape (stank like cigarettes), but I got rid of the smell and had Hermès spa it and it was like new.

But I always felt so plain with the Noir and ended up rehoming it a year later. Bambou is a really special color and like you with the Jodie, it just makes me so happy. To be fair, I am partial to the deep, rich colors of Hermès leathers. I also wear a lot of black and grey so the Bambou B really provides a nice pop. I receive so many compliments on the Bambou, never did on the Noir.

Noir will always be available as well, not sure about Bambou.

My only issue with my Bambou is the GHW- I think it looks so much better with PHW!

Hands down noir over bamboo given it’s your 1st birkin. You‘ll get more wear out of it as it is a timeless and classic piece plus resale if you plan to, will be more sought after. :)
Congratulations!!

+1! Exactly my thoughts. H is known for its beautiful colored leathers and Bambou is gorgeous. I would prefer to purchase a special color that makes me feel happy those moments I bring it out. Black is plain and for my personal lifestyle I would purchase a cheaper black bag that I don’t mind throwing around and using on a daily basis. At the end choose what makes your heart flutter

I’m another for Noir, I’m a sucker for classic, neutral colors. My last request was navy/bleu nuit/ noir/etoupe. How often do you use that Jodie? I have a B25 Gold with GHW. I voted noir its classic. Hermes does fabulous color but if you won’t use it that often you should go for the black. I would rather have classics in my collection that I can use that suit my lifestyle and tastes. If money were no object I would take one in every color ;)

As you don't know which choice to make

Assuming that you use your Kelly, why do you want a Birkin? rather than an alternative Kelly?

When do you envisage you will use it?
What will you be likely to be wearing?
Would bamboo be the right colour most times?
If you already find a bright green difficult to style, why do you think this might be different.

Surely if you had a Birkin you would want to enjoy using it as much as possible, otherwise what would be the point of having it.

Using the same logic I would choose the best bag to use most frequently and spend less on the one for a touch of variety from time to time.

+1 for Noir. If you aren't using the BV green now, it seems like you may have the same problem with the bamboo. If I only had one bag for the rest of my life, it would 1000% be my Birkin 30 togo noir. I also am not one to constantly change my bags or spend hours creating outfits around a bag. What about getting a wallet in bamboo so you can find it in your bag and still have the happy feels of the color?

I like @tensgrl ’s idea of adding an SLG in bamboo for a pop of color and to scratch the bamboo itch. If you’d not said you had another bright green bag that you found difficult to style with your wardrobe I would have voted for picking whatever color thrills you. But repeating a green mistake could be costly. If you’re not excited about noir, and you should definitely have that pitter patter in your heart, maybe a dark color but not black would be a good choice.
