As many TPFers know here, I have a pretty nice jewelry collection NOW. But I've been married for 20 years and have received or purchased for myself all of my most expensive pieces just within the last 3 or 4 years. But one of my most if not "the most" cherished rings is my $550 dainty yellow gold one with a teeny tiny marquise stone purchased in 1991. It reminds me of all the love and happiness darling husband and I began our marriage with and makes me feel so wonderful to wear and think about that time when I was 26 years old. OP has a whole future to add to jewelry collection. Don't strap yourself and find something lovely and meaningful that you can afford today. JMO!

Well put! Cant agree more..:)

Hollywoodbadgrl , I understand your situation and feeling but don't buy the ads by the stores and their ads...i do not agree with financing rings, band or anything...if i were you, i will simply budget myself to whatever my dh can afford, that means more to me (instead of buying myself a ring)... But again everyone is diff..so it is all up to you.
I also notice most peeps think that e-ring should be 2-3x months of dh earnings..i personally do not agree with this. To me 2 weeks earning sounds more reasonable, why stretching too much? In this kind of economic :/
I am happy with my e-ring , to me it is just a symbol, i know it is something that we feel "suitable" for my phase ( i am mid 20 ) . even if dh let me upgrade it whenever i want ..hmm i dont think i will, not til i am 30 ;) , i set milestone in my life lol..
Just do not compare and listen to other gfs or girls around you.
You guys will need lots money for other things later on? House? Kids? Investment? Land? Bonds? I dunno you name it..and the amount of money that you have NOW is much more valuable than what you have later, You can always UPGRADE later :)

Thank you ladies for all of your advice and I will keep update with my choice and pix as well.

Just an idea, why don't you look at getting a non traditional wedding band? Financing probably isn't a good idea stress wise. This one is pretty

Or even a plain and simple "I love you" ring http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Ite...5-p+1-c+287466-r+101323338-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+

If you look at Tiffany's you'll be getting great quality if you get a diamond in the ring, but otherwise it's from Tiffany's! If you're into that.... They have a lot for cheaper than that. Here's another more expensive one http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Ite...7462-r+101424822+101288189-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+

I don't think you could go wrong with any of those choices. Great finds! I really like the "I love you" ring and the price is right!
