I’ve lived in my house more than 15 years. Unfortunately, the builder didn’t put a linen closet in my house just a wall of open shelves in the master closet. It was impossible to keep sheets and towels neat in these shelves so I absolutely hated my closet.

Making matters worse was that I kept my considerable shoe collection in their boxes which resulted in not being able to find anything. So I’d end up with 10 open boxes trying to find a specific pair of shoes. Plus I kept buying the same shoes over and over because I’d forget what I own.

As for my purses, I just kept them piled up on the shelves in their dust bags which is a shame because I really wanted to display them in a manner befitting their gorgeousness.

The pandemic brought all my closet dysfunction to a head and I avoided going in there. I shamelessly posted this pic when we first started quarantining. It is what it is and I don’t view my stuff as precious but I knew I needed to do better.

More pics of my out of control closet at its best…

And at its worst…

For years, I’d fantasized about building my dream closet. I’m a bit of a designer so I planned and plotted every feature and detail I wanted in my new closet.

Even before the pandemic, I had a few home improvement projects I wanted to undertake: laundry room, game room, media room, master bath and lastly…the master closet.

When the pandemic hit I stopped traveling internationally and it seemed like the perfect time to start these projects. I’m a control freak so I found all my tradesmen and bought all of the materials for the various projects. I learned a lot and found an amazing carpenter who could create anything I described at great price within a few days or weeks.

So when it was finally time to do my closet I had my guy. And he perfectly executed my vision. He built all this cabinetry in less than 10 days but the installation was spaced out. The entire process took about 4 weeks and it was exactly what I wanted.

Great work! I am so pleased to see all the bags have its own place. I can't wait to see how the shoes will be organised.
I have a similar situation with the shoes like yours, it's quite annoying. Thank God that I don't have as many boxes as you do.
