I'm doing me research on bags that I can potentially get for my birthday. (I know. It never ends). As mention e din another thread before, I have LV items and I love them as they seem durable and I never had any issues. Now I'm trying to look up other brands to help me make a decision. I don't have anything from Tod's, Ferragamo or Fendi.

Would you recommend these brands? If you have pieces from them, can you let me know about the quality?

From Fendi, I'm loving the fendi fendigraphy in Nano or their WOC.

From Tod's I'm eyeing their moon shaped bag called T Timeless shoulder bag in micro leather and also their bucket bag and the bag in leather micro with strap and the small shopping tote.

From Ferragamo, I'm loving their boxyz bag which I can get from the outlet.

Tod's seem really lovely with all the leather, minimal design and seems to have a classic design that I can wear when I'm like 40 (5 years down the line lol) Fendi is very loud and I dotn have loud bags so it can make a statement just unsure if I'd still want it at 40. Ferragamo, also classics but they do smooth leather for boxyz so I'm worried it scratches easy.

Let me know your thoughts and if you have some other recos from the brands I mentioned!

I got the Boxyz bag in medium from Ferragamo soon after they released it a few years ago, and I absolutely love the bag. Great quality! I have not had a single scratch on it. That said, I am generally careful with all my bags. I don't know why they discontinued it, and if you can get one from the outlet, I would definitely do so.

Lots of people also love the Studio bag from Ferragamo, so that might be another one that might interest you from that brand. I don't have the Studio bag, but there is a thread about it in the Ferragamo sub-forum.
I am less familiar with the items you mentioned from Tod's and Fendi.

I saw the Boxyz and I thought it's structure is perfect because I love structured bags. I'll check out the studio bag. They have it in the outlet as well but in seasonal colours. I think the size is good for me as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on boxyz!!!

If you find that hardward scratches easily, would you worry about the Fendi fendigraphy hardware getting scratched? It looks like that's what's going to touch surfaces when you set it down. With the Nano in particular, they show people wearing it on their wrist like a puffy bracelet. I can see that being convenient in some ways and really annoying in others (bumping it on things as you move your hands around). I don't know how much stuff you carry, but that doesn't look like it would hold much.

Regarding it's longevity with age, I would say that in 5 years you might be less likely to want it, not because you feel too old to wear it, but because it is such a statement that you would be bored with it by then. It might feel more dated than something a little more classic. I'm 50 and I would wear it, but only while it was still current. It is so different (wearing it on your wrist like that) that it would likely start to feel dated to me after a few years once the novelty wore off.

To me, the Ferregamo bag is okay but just another structured flap bag. That is entirely a matter of preference of course, but I often feel elderly wearing a flap bag, depending on how it's styled of course. Since you are considering how the bag will age with you, there is the argument on the one side that structured flap bags are classic, and on the other side that they are SO classic, that on an older woman they can easily slip into granny territory if not styled carefully.

If you can't tell yet, out of the choices you listed above, I prefer the Tods Timeless bags for what you want it for. There are options in that line that look interesting but not gimmicky, so they are more likely to have style staying power AND interest. They are stylish in a way that is not boring and yet can be worn by any age. Obviously I can't predict future trends, but that's how I see these different styles.

You asked for different suggestions from each of these lines. I really love the Tods T Timeless Shopping Bag in the Mini size. Any color, but I put a pic of what they call pink below.

For Ferragamo, I like the cut-out shoulder bag. Definitely a statement but one that would look just as great on an older woman as on a younger one. I'm also in love with their Geometric shoulder bag. That's a fun way to do a flap bag that is definitely NOT a granny bag!

For Fendi, I think their Fendi First clutch is fun. Although I usually don't care for logos, I love the way they integrated the F into the handle of the bag. I like the asymmetry and despite it being a bit of a statement, it is something I would unapologetically wear for the rest of my life as I don't feel it looks like a fad but rather simply good, interesting design.

Whatever you choose, I hope you have many years of enjoyment from it!! :)

Rather than brand, I would go with the design that captures my heart. I can attest to Ferragamos and are drawn to many of their designs. I have a couple of Ferragamo Verves (this one and another in snakeskin) and a large Sophia, all bought pre-loved. They are well made, not a stitch out of place, very hardy, very under the radar and where I live the likelihood someone twinning is almost non-existent.

That Tod's timeless shopping bag is actually in my list as well! Definitely something I would buy as I didn't have a bag in that shape at all. I also love the fendi forest but I feel its so expensive here in Australia

Thank you for your advise! It all makes sense and for me, the bags I buy usually celebrate a milestone so I avoid trendy as much as I cna and go for bags that I can wear at any stage in my life. When I buy a bag, can I take it to a parent-teacher meeting? Or maybe a night out with my colleagues? Can I take it when I go on a holiday? How about when I turn 50 or 60, can I still fall in love with the bag again even if I change the way I dress? That's the kind of "investment" I see in bags. I just love bags so much that I wanna make sure I get to enjoy them haha

Definitely! The brand is secondary to me. I'm more after the quality. That's the reason why I loved LV in the first place. I don't own any ferragamo, fendi or tods and I'm thinking if I'm spending $2K and above on a bag, it better be a great quality one that I can use for many years down the line.

Glad to hear your ferragamo bags are in excellent condition! Where did you buy them preloved?

Selling my verve was my biggest handbag regret. Such a gorgeous bag but I was too young and stupid to appreciate the craftsmanship. Bought new from Harrods in small size, black. Sold on eBay for £425 BNWT and the buyer didn’t even say thanks

Agreeing with others here:

In terms of brands, I don't think you can go wrong with any. These are some of Italy's finest leather-good's houses. Make a day out and try the different models in the stores and choose the actual bag that sings to you.

The Fendigraphy has a lot of hw so if you want less hw, I'd opt for a different model.

Have fun choosing.

I've been looking for a Ferragamo myself. I drop into the boutique and adore the quality.

But since I'm here, I cannot rave enough about the Tod's I have/have had. Quality is excellent. Beautifully constructed, great colors, fantastic smell, good styles. Totally a Tod's fan!
