People use them as "bag charms" for their larger bags too. It is like the new wristlet. I always thought "Oh look that bag pooped out a baby!"

When I go to the library, I carry a purse and a bookbag. That's about the only time I carry more than one bag.
I have a few of those oversized mini-purse fobs and I never use them. I think they look ridiculous on my bags, with the exception of one vintage one that I use as a coin purse.
