False Advertising Hammitt Bags...Made in...Where?!

Ah, but the tag says that the artisans hand-craft the collections one at a time, not the bags. ie, the designers design in L.A. Then there's all this verbiage about stitching thrown in everywhere else to give the impression it's made in L.A. It's not exactly a lie, just a strongly false impression.

I am with you. I don't like it at all. It's not that the bag is made in China that bothers me it's that they are leaning so strongly on the selling point that the bag is made in L.A. when it isn't. All of that "buy local" crap they're spewing is just hot air.

Lol sell outs!! who knows with these companies...the way they word things sometimes! I myself still buy Coach, Dooney, etc. While I don't really like the fact that their bags are mostly made in China, at least they're honest about it and don't try to hide it.

I have had trouble dealing with the owner of Hammitt in the past, and I would not support the Company in any way. Although I do like the design of her bags. Just my lame input.

Sometimes no matter how nice a design is, bad customer service or issues with a company are reasons enough to stay away. Too many other brands out there!

How deceitful! It's one thing if they had to outsource the manufacturing process for their materials and have the bags assembled in the US but trying to hide the fact that some of their bags are outright imported and only designed in LA is utter bullcrap.

Does anyone know if all of her bags have the Leather Patch Inside. I have a Hammitt and it has the LA... tag only and not the HAMMITT Leather Patch or HAMMITT embossed on the outside. Its's heavy for a small crossbody. Just curious. The quality of this bag is superior though.

I purchased a Hammitt bag directly from the company. As I unpacked the bag I found myself not liking the feel of the leather. I hung it up on a hook to let the kinks out of he strap before I used it. Every once and a while I would feel it again and not enjoy the feel of the leather. That is part of the advertising too, “softest leather ever”. It was not. Combined with the “made in China” tag I contacted the company and arranged a return.

I am very, very picky about the things I buy. This did not fit the bill!

Many years ago I read the book How Luxury Lost it’s Luster. While this bag is not considered a lux brand, same concept. The book is an eye opener about where things are really made and how they are presented. I highly recommend the book.
