Ok everyone. I notice a common refrain around here. Lots of you are current or former Coachies. Or cross shoppers.

Are you cheating on MK with Coach or vice versa? Which do you like better?

My bag collection started with Coach, and I have about 7 coach bags currently, 5 MK (ok really 4. One is presale waiting for me!)

I started with Coach because I am all about classic shapes. I jumped onto MK, because he has classic shapes too. Now I peek in at both stores to see what I can find. (I am a bit preppy, so these bags suit me more than most brands).

Coach wins for customer service. MK wins for pockets/practicality. They are equal for ostentatiousness - some bags are subtle. Some aren't.

So who wins? Or are you equal opportunity?

I guess I'm cheating on Coach with MK lol. I haven't liked a lot of the new bags Coach comes out with except for the ones that are way too expensive. I just needed a change and I've always like the Hamilton a lot. It is hard though, because I'm used to finding deep discounts on Coach where MK that really doesn't happen. I just can't bring myself to pay FP.

^^^I'm with you, I use to be a HUGE Coach junkie and waited on upcoming PCE events, knew about what was hitting the Coach Outlets, had a huge collection of keychains, knew more about Coach then all of the employees at the stores...but then my love for Coach kind of dwindled... don't get me wrong, I still love their stuff, but only the leather bags, and "some" small signature and leather accessories...Right now I only own about 4 Coach bags and tons of accessories still (down from over 15 Coach bags I use to have), with only 1 Michael Kors bag plus accessories. I think I'm definitely one that likes them about the same, but I have to say that I love Coach jewelry (esp their bracelets).... there are pros and cons to different bags/accessories of any brand... just my .02

I used to be a huge coachie and only coach... their styles have gotten cheaper looking and more expensive and I found myself drifting to MK.. while I love MK I have to say Coach wins hands down for their warranty and service on their merchandise. MK outlet prices are crazy and only allow exchanges, but I love MK and almost all dept stores have at least 25% off quite often so no need to pay FP unless you really really want to. That being said, Coach is starting to come back a bit and I find myself interested in some things.. although they are raising their prices also. Something about paying the money and knowing the item has a lifetime warranty though that helps it go down smoother. I love Coach and MK both. :tender:

I know I'm in the minority in this respect, but I've never understood the Coach craze. My daughter has offered me some of her Coach bags and I've had an outlet near me for years, but I'm just not tempted at all. I go into the outlet store from time to time and leave in a daze, wondering what all the fuss is about! Even the Coach dept. at Macy's doesn't attract me. As for MK . . . I'm surprised my DH hasn't placed an ankle bracelet on me to alert him whenever I'm near a store! For the past two years, MK is the only bag I've wanted to carry.

Try T.J. Maxx...they often have a great selection of MK bags at really great prices ...:)

MK boutiques have good sales as well. I got my large Hamilton for about $175 at the FP boutique. The outlet is a ripoff. :P

I have seen bags at the outlet that I saw at the FP boutique for 20-30% less on sale.

That's awesome, one of our malls is getting a boutique and now I'm excited! We already have an outlet but why pay $260 for the outlet version when you can have the original for $300?

I have actually left LV for MK, the designs are classic and have all the "little" things that bug me about LV, pockets, feet on the bottom of the bag, etc.... Used to like Coach a lot but MK wins!

I liked Coach at the very beginning of my purse craze days but, so many things have changed. First off EVERYONE has one and the quality has really went down hill with all the outlet stuff. My personal favorite is Michael Kors. Great quality, great customer service, and I have been lucky enough to never pay FP for anything I purchased. Their outlet seems ridiculous to me. The prices seem really high. My bags seem to really hold up so spending a few extra dollars on a Michael Kors bag is worth it to me. To each their own though...

I find where I live, there are lots of Coach bags. In the areas with outlets close by or tourist areas, it is 75% signature bags. The Coach bags mirror pretty closely what the nearby Macy's carries. If it is a store that only stocks mostly logo-ed bags, those are most common. If the Macy's is mostly the leather bags, then that is what I see walking around.

I rarely see ones I have. Almost never one in my collection actually. As for the MK bags? I see them much more frequently. Especially Hamiltons (both outlet and full price). Then the graysons. Nearly as often as I see Coach bags.

Sometimes I wonder if I need a new brand. :P

We also have a good number of MK boutiques. I just uncovered that one store doesn't get collection bags. Not all do. We don't have a flagship store here (there is a massive flagship Coach store, and the flagship Macy's gets the high end Coach bags). But the two higher end stores do get the collection bags regularly. The mid-range store gets a handful of collection bags.

My first "high end" purse was coach and I still use it a lot. I also have a black patent leather coach wallet that I still use. I still like coach but I guess it just depends on the style of the bag. I will say that I think the coach outlet bags look horrendous and very cheap looking. I remember my first trip to the outlet and being really excited only to be let down when I walk in the store and all the bags looking fug. Then again there are some MK that I think look fug too. I just can't stand coach outlet bags. *shrugs*
