Hi guys and gals,

I wear a dainty gold Tiffany DBTY necklace every day and I would love to add another necklace to layer with it on those days where more attention might be on my neck area (eg not wearing crewneck). I generally wear smaller/lower key pieces of jewelry like a 28mm TT Rolex and plain 1ct studs daily, as well as a David Yurman albion ring now and then. I like the idea of two tone pieces since I do mix a lot naturally.

Currently considering these three necklaces... can anyone share experiences or suggestions? TIA!

Cartier Trinity necklace with diamond ($1,970)

Sweet Alhambra white MOP necklace ($1,340)

Mini Frivole necklace ($1,670)

They all seem versatile for daily wear and style. The Cartier or Frivole are a little more expensive but I suppose more low maintenance which could help with the frequency of wear. I'd probably have to get an extender for either so it falls below my 16" DBTY chain.

I think a mini frivole would look fab with a DBTY necklace. For more contrast you could do a MOP sweet Alhambra, but tbh these are very very small and don't stand out much, imo. The frivole is actually 3D with the petals shaped forward coming off the plane of the necklace, and the gold is mirrored so it shines quite a bit. The frivole can also be worn every day and not fussed over as much since it is gold and not a semisoft stone.

The Cartier is beautiful, but personally I would wear that on its own rather than in a stack.

Thanks so much for the opinion! Do you think the frivole would put me into a "feminine" corner style-wise? I'm not a very feminine dresser today... honestly, mostly in jeans and sweater or casual top most days, even at work (work at a tech company). A small pop of femininity isn't inherently bad though, like I wear Ferragamo varina flats frequently and the bow is fine on that. But this seems super feminine!

I don’t think the frivole is overly feminine - I sometimes dress very femininely and other times more edgy but I feel it goes well with both looks. Plus I feel like layering it is inherently more edgy than wearing it alone if that makes sense? Here are a bunch of photos for reference!

I agree that the Cartier trinity would look best on its own, so I vote for either of the two VCA necklaces. Also you don’t need to get an extender - VCA will lengthen the chain for you so that there are jump rings at 16” and 18”. I have the MOP vintage Alhambra and mini pave frivole pendants and they’ve done that for both. If you get the MOP, you will need to take it off when you shower.

Agreed with everything that has been said above!
The frivole stands out a lot more than the Alhambra at this size, and also looks great on its own. That's not the case for the MOP sweet Alhambra that tends to get lost on you (unless you are very petite).
I own the frivole and I love it so much, on its own or layered! It is very worry free as well since it is gold and diamonds, and is a very stable piece that stays in place all day long.

I agree that the Cartier necklace is more of a stand alone piece. It is beautiful though.

Do send us pictures when you decide!
I'd love to see the frivole stacked with the dbty if you chose to go in that direction, as I am currently contemplating adding a DBTY or a Diamants légers de Cartier necklace to my collection :).

Hey ladies, just to give you an update since I finally got a chance to visit a VCA store (had to go across the Atlantic for it ). I ended up buying the sweet Alhambra... I was set on the mini frivole going in but it just didn’t work with my vibe at all. Didn’t help that I walked in with a St James Breton and kick flares with Stan Smiths. The SAs also thought the luminous MOP looked really good against my skin tone. I left really wanting the blue agate Alhambra though!! Maybe soon...

I really recommend the Ginza VCA if anyone will be in the area... for one, prices in JP are now a bit cheaper than US (tax free JP price vs pre-tax US). Also the service was great. Even though this is a low value purchase they treated us like VIP customers and expedited the chain lengthening I asked for so I could pick up next day.

Also just want to add for the benefit of anyone else thinking about this in the future... it’s definitely smaller than the vintage Alhambra and has less immediate visual impact but if you’re into the Mejuri-Catbird-Missoma look with a bunch of super dainty layered necklaces it works well for that purpose. I did try on vintage Alhambra but it made my layering necklaces look like a distracting side dish... it would look good with other VCA pieces or even anything else with equal presence but if you layer with more minimalist jewelry it will outshine that jewelry. Just something to keep in mind. :)

I love your blue Alhambra necklace. Is it a special limited edition? And is it YG or RG?
