bumping this thread as I have some question around the same lines.

for everyday earrings...
would you say 1ct be a good size? smaller? .5 ctw too small?

I am looking at options for diamonds...
should I go bigger but more color 1.0 ctw with color : HIJ
or a little smaller .8 with color DEF?

help! my budget is not to exceed 3500$

Would you say go bigger or go for the better quality.

I think it depends on your earlobes. I have dumbo sized ears, so my 1.40 cttw emerald cut studs look tiny on me. ( Honestly, I would need 3 cttw studs to be proportionate to my lobes. This is not happening anytime soon.) However, they would take up the entire lobe of some of my friends. You should try on different sizes to see what you are comfortable with.

I agree and this is what my SA told me as well. You will save money if you have smaller ear lobes! LOL!

For diamond earrings, the cut is the most noticeable factor. Don't skimp on the cut quality!

Size is a personal preference. I have .6 TCW (yes, only .3 in each ear!) but they are the size that works for me personally for everyday. I don't live a lifestyle where big blingy earrings are appropriate. Around this forum bigger seems to be the most popular choice, but do what works best for you.

Hi, thanks for chiming in. Would love to see action shot of your .6 please.

Sure, here you go. Sorry for the crappy picture quality but I was using my camera phone.

It looks great! Not too small in fact. My fear with going smaller is it may look like I am wearing my daugthers earrings. this size looks great on you... Thank you!!!

I know what you mean. When I was a teenager I had really little diamond stud earrings (they were cheap from a mall jeweler; I dont know what size they were) and they were super small. I wouldn't wear that size now.

Can you go to a store and try on different sizes? Even if you don't buy there, you can get a sense of what they look like on you.

I tried on 3 tcw that a friend had to get a sense of what I'd like. I decided to go small.

I went to Costco to do that and I was actually intending to buy it from them. But they are so strict there I cannot even take the earring off its post :-( I was so dismayed. I will check out Macys or JCpenny to try some on. I plan to buy from whiteflash or bluenile...
