Ever sell your bags because you have too many & use the $ to buy more?

I have a tendency to do that too. I buy a new bag, realize I don't use my older bags, so I sell the older ones. Then I'll buy a new one and the cycle starts again. However I tend to get most of my $ back. (I buy vintage/preloved.)
Over the past couple months I have been using the proceeds to pay off my car. So that's how I'm getting away with not buying a new bag with the money this time LOL , I already have it allotted for something else. BUT, once my car is paid off I have a whole new list of things I want to get... So the cycle will begin again!

I've just decided to downsize my collection and am sending off 11 bags to consignment tomorrow... My main objective was to clear some space and use and enjoy the bags I decided to keep (about 10), and I do feel lighter and freer.

Having said that, the money I make will go into a "fund" for special, frivolous purchases... I feel it's like "free" money (which is ridiculous I know)... which may well include 1 amazing bag at a price point I could never "justify" before (currently thinking of getting my first Celine).

Strange, I know, but like others have said it feels like downsizing but upgrading my collection without spending any MORE money, which is nice :)

I don't have that many bags, they're eleven and most of them are gifts or inherited from my mom/grandma. I definitely wanna sell one I never use and I'm considering doing the same thing with another that isn't loved much. I doubt they'd sell for much, I just hate seeing them in. my closet all the time. I would like to buy another, a classic good quality piece that can last for years and that I'm absolutely sure I won't get tired of, so I guess it's the same for me. To be exact I wanna sell to give the bags to someone that could enjoy them.
But I have to say I don't buy that many bags... until now at least :D

Wow same here, I sold all my not so great bags like Nine West, Guess, ect but bought better bags and want better bags...I also just stopped wearing sneakers and now wear actual shoes haha.

It's nice to own a few pairs ("a few", hahaaah!:roflmfao:) of real shoes that aren't meant to be worn while jogging or rapping. I did own 2 pairs of heels that I even used even back in the day, but now the ratio has changed from 4 pairs of sneakers, tennis shoes etc./2pairs of heels to 2 pairs of tennis shoes/1 pair of sneakers/10 pairs of shoes/5 pairs of heels. Better for a 36-yr old me thinks. :D

Most people on here have that problem. Visiting the shopping your closet thread might offer you support. It is probably best not to visit this forum as often unless it does not tempt you.

I can't say I think of my closet as money - I do sell many of my donate bin items online if they are in decent condition but it's not for much ($10-$30 range, then shipping eats into any remaining profits). I guess it could get you some money back, but not for much and for some effort. I find having a regular paycheck more secure for my mental being haha. But honestly for me it's not about the money, it's about the clutter...

^^^This!the clutter! It's not the money, it's the clutter! Mostly, it's the mental clutter. So liberating to let them go. (Still working on it). Even those packed away are taunting me from the basement!

^^^also, yes. TPF = handbag crack.

I'm loving reading all these posts about purging the bag clutter. That's exactly how I feel right now. I hate the idea of having more than one bag for one purpose. For example, 2 medium sized shoulder bags on medium brown. Too many choices make me crazy.

I sale bags as I find myself constantly redefining my bag collection. Last week I told my sissy my bag goals and she limited me to 15 not including clutches. I have 4 more I need so I have to sell 3.
