Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this- I am new here!

I’m looking at an Evelyne III 29 in Noir. Any opinions on Epsom vs Clemence? My SA tells me Epsom is little harder to find and has a Clemence on hold but I’m not sure if I should insist on Epsom. The most important thing is I’m a guy so I think the more “structured” look of the Epsom would suit me better. I’ve never had a leather bag from Hermes but it looks similar to Prada Saffiano leather, which I love.

Any thoughts?

It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen or heard of an Epsom evelyne. You may be waiting a long time (forever if they’ve stopped producing them) if you insist on Epsom. Clemence handles beautifully and is even more carefree than Epsom in most regards. I highly recommend you go try on the clemence and see if you fall in love with it. :)

Hi, Clemence imho, the texture coupled with colour saturation brings a luxury look but evelyne shape with the softness makes it more casual. i never thought I would like this bag (I have an etain tpm) but I love it and use it often.

If you're looking for a more structured Evelyne, I would suggest looking at the Sellier version, which is typically in Hunter leather, but also sometimes available in Epsom. This does give a very different feel to the 'classic' Evy, but I have a 29 in Noir Hunter which has served me really well.
As it's more structured, you may want to look for a smaller size than you might wish as it doesn't mould to be body as readily as a soft Clemence classic Evy.

I have both epsom and Clemence and I would recommend Clemence. My epsom has severe corner wear but Clemence looks almost new after years of constant wear. I think the size, crossbody wear and where the bag hits on the hip will invariably lead to the bags corners bring susceptible to wear.

Chartreusian, I have a Prada saffiano wallet that has gone through such abuse over the years, yet still looks new. I love it. While I do not have an epsom bag, it appears Tpfers do not think it holds up as well. All ove the forum, there are complaints about scratches. Clemence is a bit heavier, but esp. in an evelyne, very durable And I’ve gotten mine pretty soaked with rain etc. I did recently buy my MIL an epsom evelyne bc they are known to be lightweight (she just had back surgery). I also got my DH a sellier evelyne in hunter leather which you should also check out; epsom and clemence are not the only options!
