Etiquette questions re: new to Hermès and pandemic issues

Hi guys,
This is my first time actually starting a post, so apologies if I am doing it wrong. I have been saving up for a new shawl and a collier de chien bracelet and was planning on heading to the DC H on Saturday, but then it hit me that they may not take cash because of the pandemic. Does anyone have any experience with paying in cash? My main bank is Charles Schwab...and turns out you can’t really deposit cash! Who knew? Oy!

I shop in NY and they were not accepting cash earlier in the summer (mid-July). Not sure if that's changed as they reopened to the public then reverted back to appointment only, so I'd imagine the policy has stayed in place. HTH!

Good question! Maybe get a debit card for your Schwab account?? That could make it easier to "use cash"

You will certainly need to call first for an appointment so yes, I would inquire with them on that call. Good luck!

Not meaning to be rude, but do you really use cash as in paper bills or coins when shopping as your everyday way og paying for goods? I honestly can't remember the last time I needed cash, and especially now almost noone accepts it unless you ask and are lucky..( I'm in Norway)

I actually have one, the odd thing is, they have no function to deposit cash into your account, so I would have to go through a convoluted system or opening an account with a different bank, then transferring money, they’re great in every other way!

I don’t usually, but I am a visual person so in saving up I liked having the stacks of cash...I see my mistake now :-p

I’m in the uk and my store takes cash, I usually always pay cash unless it’s a large purchase eg B or K. i like to see my money too!

Not a mistake. A lot of people like to pay in cash when possible just as a visual. It wasn’t really a problem pre COVID

Thanks Quelle Fromage! I will check out a branch, I read something somewhere that you couldn’t so I gave up. I called the DC H and they said cash is fine as long as I tell them before they get to a register, super psyched for Saturday

It interesting how different the banks operate from country to country. Here you can deposit cash into any branch atm, and just use debit. I haven’t touched cash in ages!
Once I paid cash for an item at H, it was probably a good 10 years ago. They looked at me like I was from another planet!
