I found a link on the purse forum for Etinceler Authentications, so for $5 I sent pics of my Chanel & got a response back the same day regarding my bags authenticity. I just wondered if anyone else has used this source for reviewing bag authenticty? Compared to other websites that offer similair services, they were a lot cheaper. Although I didn't need any written documentation, the price did increase if it were needed. I just was curious to hear any feedback on this website. Thanks!

The ladies over there are PFers with long standing history. I haven't used them personally, but have read/heard great things about them! They also help out a ton on the Chanel Authentication thread.

The Etinceler Authentications ladies provide a very valuable service in my opinion. Until this group of ladies who also happen to be the mainstays of the Chanel authentication thread on tPF, formed their business, there really wasn't a truly dedicated Chanel specific authentication service. I, for one have complete confidence in what they do and do not hesitate to recommend their services to my own buyers whenever I can.

I also use EtincelerAuthentications.com While it might look cheap to get a photoauthentication, they are very particular about the photos required and the clarity of the images which is excellent. No matter how often they have checked my items before, if they need a better shot of detail they will ask for it. This is something that I particularly like about their service.

If photo-authentication is too expensive; people don't do it. If you don't pre-authenticate and then a problem develops, it is harder to sort out, so of course it costs more.

I had an extremely rare Chanel item pulled by accident by eBay once - with over 120 watchers mind you. Because I had pre-authenticated, I was able to instantly send on EtincelerAuthentications's email to eBay. It was very useful for resolving. The eBay representatives could see that I was serious about what I was doing. It was restored with an apology from eBay and they sent a message to all the bidders that the item was pulled in error.

I have also had a couple of buyers, who were surprised by some aspect of a rare vintage item and wanted to know if it really was real. Again, I could refer those buyers to EtincelerAuthentications because of having pre-authenticated. It takes years of looking at Chanel to be familiar with the variations that appear and continue to evolve with Chanel designs. EtincelerAuthentications have that experience.

For the price, it is excellent insurance. Although in 99% of cases I never need to use their support other than to receive their confirmation of authenticity email, that other 1% is where it is invaluable.

This is very timely. I have been thinking about starting a thread titled: Authenticating the Authenticators

I have used Carol Ives' service for authentication in the past (caroldiva.com), but I don't think she is an expert on all brands.

I knew about Etinceler, and also Fake Spotters, Castira, and Delortae, although none actually identify who is behind the organization except Carol, who operates alone. (I hope at this point in time everyone knows NOT to use My Poupette!!!)

What concerns me is potential conflict of interest, i.e., authenticators who authenticate but also sell pre-loved bags. If the organization has several or many members who are sellers, then the potential exists for conflict of interest and potential for less than due diligence in authenticating it's members wares. I would like to see transparency in these organizations and for that matter, transparency anywhere authentications take place.

Potential certainly doesn't automatically translate to unethical, but just like an eBay seller who advertises themself as a tPF member, they should be prepared to be transparent about their identity and re-seller status if applicable.

I started thinking about this because of some research I'm doing now on an eBay seller.

I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I just wanted to say that I recently used this company and the fast professional way my request was handled was amazing. I highly recommend this company for any pay pal disputes for buyers or sellers. :smile1:

Hello, i'm new of using the third party authenticators... But I've been thinking to use the etinceler authentications to authenticate a chanel vintage bag. I've read the requirements and would like to ask about the photo authentication/email authentication and the payment in advance. Shall I send the payment first then email them with photo details? Anyone can share it? TIA

Yes. Your sequence is exactly right. Payment then an email with the photos and link if you have one. Etinceler have all the photos needed documented on their website.
