Hello, I am hoping you can give me your thoughts on two rings I am considering. I have an anniversary coming up and was wondering your thoughts on the two styles of eternity bands. Emerald cut or baguette style diamonds? I love that the baguette style because it is somewhat understated while the emerald cut band has a presence that is quite distinct. I don't see either style very often which makes both styles attractive to me. I am not a flashy person so I leaning toward the baguette style but somehow the emerald cut keeps calling me.

I would love to hear what you think about the bands, pros, cons or just what you like best. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You should choose the style that you love. I’ve not seen the baguette eternity ring in person, but I have seen the emerald cut many years ago on a client. At the time, I was in my twenties. I’ve never forgotten that ring. It was beautiful and had so much presence, but it wasn’t flashy. Try both and you will know which you prefer. I think they’re both beautiful.

Both are beautiful! I prefer the emerald cut and would choose that. I like the symmetry and diamond reflection better. I recently purchased an eternity band and was looking at all the shapes and emerald cut is so distinctive! Have fun and get what YOU love! Post a picture, please!

I love the prong set versions vs. the channel set, the channel set seems dated to me ..

This. Channel settings seem dated to me as well - absolutely zero offense meant to anyone who likes these still, jewelry is so subjective! To me, it's easier to really clean the prong settings because you can access more surface area, if that makes sense.

Finally... Nothing says WOW to me more than an emerald cut. I have a few GFs who have emerald cut eternity bands and they are just so stunning, elegant, and timeless. <3

Emerald cut all the way! Emeralds are not flashy but look so *expensive*. I love me a channel setting, but in this case the emerald cut ring wins. Please show us what you end up buying!

I really appreciate everybody's input, it is always interesting to see how others feel. It looks like everyone prefers the emerald cut ring which validates what I had been thinking. It is a very beautiful ring.

I have tried on a couple of rings in this style and the size of the stones really dictates how the ring looks on my finger. I don't want something too small but I can't go too big (.40 points each or larger) as it looks like a block on my finger which I think takes away from the beauty of the ring and would not suit my lifestyle as a everyday ring. If I go with this style I need to figure out the best size of diamonds for my finger so I will probably need to have it custom made. I will need some time to figure out the balance between diamond size, how it looks on my finger and the ability to fit it into my lifestyle (casual, minimal and understated).

I did not realize the baguette style was considered dated but I still like it as I feel it is a classic piece. I still find it appealing as I think it would be easier to wear daily as it is more understated than the emerald cut one. But it is not as contemporary and does not have the wow factor of the other ring but it may fit my lifestyle better (I am not sure).

Its going to take me some time to figure out the details. Our big anniversary is next year and I am planning now so that the ring could be ready. I always find custom pieces take so long to put together as there are so many little details that need to be considered. The big decision is to figure out which style suits me best. I will probably go for the emerald cut band as I have been thinking about it for some time and I value your opinions. However, I don't want to rush my decision because I find there is nothing worse than getting something made, being so excited and then not be happy with it when you get it. Thank you for your advice and support in my decision.

Happy anniversary! Both of your ring choices are gorgeous. I’m just chiming in as a “devil’s advocate”. Agree that emerald cuts are more statement-making and a gorgeous cut that will show more diamond flashes.

That said, I feel the baguette-style has some real pluses too - it is certainly more under-the-radar and unique. Channel set looks may not be “in” right now, but let’s face it - styles are constantly cycling in and out, and if this is a piece you are going to wear forever it doesn’t matter. It’ll eventually be in vogue again! This style would for sure be more comfortable without prongs and exposed edges, and likely lower-set so less bulky between the fingers. And imho, it looks kinda extra luxe - like a solid “wall” of diamond in between the channels.

Incidentally, where did you find this style? Honestly I really like it and have only ever seen east-west baguette styles.

The channel set princess cut eternity band sounds really nice! Thank you for letting me know about your experience with your ring.

The first time I saw the baguette style ring was a number of years ago when I was on the Bulgari website when I was looking for something else. I went into a boutique to see it in person and it was not in stock. For some reason it is no longer on the site. I agree this style seems to be a no fuss type of ring and I think it would be more comfortable to wear than emerald cut band. They are both beautiful. I feel the emerald cut has the wow factor right away when you see it whereas you may not notice the baguette style right away but once you do it is quite unique and can be eye catching.

Baguette.

While there isn't much sparkle, I like the little windows of ice and always wanted a baguette ring. Good luck and be happy with your choice!
