This is my ring. Its a 1.36 ct taupe colored diamond. Its on the lighter shade of brown, bordering on apricot. I love it in the 18kt gold.

Personally, I think colored diamonds are the way to go. So much fun to wear and super sparkly too.

This is exactly the ring I have been looking for! I found a picture of a similar ring with regular diamond, and have been trying to imagine what it will look like with a Taupe/champagne diamond. I am thinking of a brushed gold band. Gorgeous!

Here are some pics of stunning jewelry with colored diamonds from De Grisogono who I think is a Master in his creations

My first engagement ring was a ruby solitaire with a diamond set to each side...I still wear it but on my right hand..it looked great with my wedding band too..I would say it's what YOU want..it's what I wanted at the time and never regretted my choice...Good luck with your decision..just be true to yourself!!

Thanks. I had it made. Easy to do--just find a jeweler you trust to design your vision. I bought the stone in Australia and brought it back to a local jeweler to design a setting. This ring has a shiny bezel and a brushed band.

The only thing about a brushed band: with daily wear it shines up a lot so you have to keep making it matte. To make it matte, you have to brush a bit of rough paper over it. Technically, you're removing a bit of gold. So everytime you make it "brushed," you wear off a bit of gold. For daily wear, it might be more of a hassle than its worth. You could matte out the bezel and keep the band shiny.

i have a colored engagement ring. it's a pink sapphire in a diamond halo and i  it. i do want a good sized diamond solitare someday, but for now i am completely content with this one.

the only thing to keep in mind with colored stones is the hardness of the stone. since erings are worn every day they take a lot of abuse. you want something pretty close to diamonds on the mohs scale (rubies, sapphires, spessorite, tsavorite, etc)

I love your ring, Ilzabet!! It's GORGEOUS :girlsigh:

I love colored stones and diamonds. I think I'd rather have an e-ring with a colored stone than a white diamond...

i have two engagement rings, the one DF proposed is a 1.5 diamond but i hardly wear bc im too scared to lose it. plus it sits too high for me to wear to work (i work with kids) so being the fabulous man he is he bought me a second engagement ring because he knows ive always wanted colored stones. in fact, back in the days he told me, "i want to get you a colored stone for every color in your wardrobe." and he got me this beauty i wear more frequently.
