Hello!
I recently was looking at theknot.com and they had a little section about the meaning of different colored stones for engagement rings. Black actually was the one with both positive meaning for men and women. They mentioned that one of the black stoned could be a diamond... I had never heard of that before! I love the romance of that, in a gothic way. I was just wondering if anyone had any pictures of black diamond jewelry they could post. Or any type of colored engagement ring!

Funny you should post this question, I can answer! I have a Black Diamond I was going to put into my engagement ring, but my original design fell through, so i didnt use it, but am keeping it for maybe a pendent or something. Black Diamonds are an amazing stone to have and I know a bunch of people that have them for wedding, engagement, etc, as well as other colored diamonds/stones. My fiance ended up getting me a Green Diamond in which we decided on it being my engagement ring stone, so it could really be any color you wish, it's all up to you. I think colored diamonds or gemstones are beautiful and work very well as engagement rings.

i have a colored engagement ring. it's a pink sapphire in a diamond halo and i  it. i do want a good sized diamond solitare someday, but for now i am completely content with this one.

the only thing to keep in mind with colored stones is the hardness of the stone. since erings are worn every day they take a lot of abuse. you want something pretty close to diamonds on the mohs scale (rubies, sapphires, spessorite, tsavorite, etc)

Gayle, I actually saw your ering in another thread. I was amazed how deep the green was! Amazing ring!

My mother in law just got a canary diamond ring for Christmas. It's gorgeous- princess cut with a white diamond on either side. I love it!

im currently obsessed with black diamonds right now. we have a black diamond necklace at the store i work at & im patiently trying to save up for it before it sells!

and i was definately thinking about a black diamond for an engagement ring..
if that ever happens in the next 5 years.

This is my ring. Its a 1.36 ct taupe colored diamond. Its on the lighter shade of brown, bordering on apricot. I love it in the 18kt gold.

Personally, I think colored diamonds are the way to go. So much fun to wear and super sparkly too.
