I’m in a bit of a dilemma and would like your opinion ladies!

Option 1
Yellow diamond - photo is of a gorgeous Tiffany yellow diamond - something similar but custom made and with one less halo and clean band

Option 2
Classic oval solitaire - this was my initial preference but seems like everyone has one nowadays!

Option 3
Classic oval solitaire with halo - same as above, a bit more sparkly (the photo is gold but I want platinum)

Also do any of you have yellow diamonds/considered getting one? My fear is that it would be difficult to match on occasions and I might regret not getting something more traditional. My style is more classic with investment pieces (I work in a corporate environment in NYC) but i also feel like wearing the same ring as everyone is not me.

Appreciate your opinions

I cannot see all your photos but I will say - go with what you love, regardless of anything else. You have to see it on your finger each day. If lots of people have it, then it has to be beautiful! Plus trends change. There was a time when everyone had a princess cut. Now I barely see them.

Also, things like halos and yellow diamonds come and go and can also look dated. But they will never look dated to you if you love it!

I love yellow diamonds, but I do think the only thing that goes with everything is a white diamond on a WG/plat band - it's the most classic and neutral look! I'd go with either option 2 or 3 - depending on the size of the centre stone I'd decide if I want a halo or not.

Thanks, I appreciate it - I tried the Tiffany yellow gold ring in person and it felt way too much. A classic one would definitely be much more neutral and also the diamond sparkles a lot more ha

Thank you! I didn’t know much about yellow diamonds and don’t know anyone who has one, so I don’t think it’s me jumping on a trend but more striving for something different! But you’re right that if it’s not broken, shouldn’t try to fix it

It is true that oval cuts have been popular in recent years.
Size-wise, oval is popular because it carries a lot of mass so it contributes to a larger appearance. (3rd behind the pear shape and marquise shape in terms of appearing larger).

I am kind of stuck between option 2 and 3.
I love the clean look of the 2nd choice. However, I like the sparkle that the halo ring gives for the 3rd choice and for some reason it looks kind of cute and girly? #2 gives a more elegant and mature vibe.

Tbh, between 2 and 3. I see #2 more often than #3. So I chose #3.

Color is very much a personal preference. For my e-ring I knew I highly preferred colorless/clear and was pretty set on it. Or I guess that was my expectation since I didn't know exactly what my husband was going to present me with lol.

Yellow diamonds can be amazing but you really have to love them. There are also lighter vs darker or more vivid yellow diamonds, and some people choose a lower letter diamond ( x/y/z) which look like a pale yellow but often cost less than a yellow diamond.

I used to dream of one day owning a pale pink pear diamond but lately not so much, so tastes definitely can change over time as well.

My best advice is to go to try on and have fun

Halos have been around forever, like other settings, they go through periodic phases of trending more. Much like diamond shapes.

I love a yellow diamond, but I wouldn't choose it for my primary e-ring, I'd love one my right hand!
I prefer the delicate halo on the bottom ring, small enough not to take away and be the feature, but it adds nice proportion to the oval shape imo.

I think a well cut sparking yellow diamond oval in a plain band can be stunning, but I wouldn't pair it with a white metal.

It depends on your skin tone, too. Many people look great in yellow and some people have pinker/bluish undertones in their skin that look terrible with yellow.

First stop is try them on. Second stop is figure out what size you will get. You might want a plain bezel rather than a halo. You'll get more protection for the stone for everyday wear, and you'll get that extra width from the bezel making the stone look bigger.

Oh I wasn’t suggesting that. But, if you wear it long enough, everything comes into style and goes out again eventually. So, focus on what you love and not what is in or what is different (to be different). You’ll end up disappointed.
