Engagement ring - which finger?

I agree that it depends on where you live. A friend of mine is Irish and she wears her rings (wedding and engagement) on the ring finger of the left hand like most Americans, but her dh is Dutch and he insists that it should be worn on the ring finger of the right hand. And I may be mistaken, but I believe that in some cultures the engagment ring is worn on one hand, but after the marriage it is moved to the other hand.

I googled it and found that why e-ring & wedding band are worn on the 4th finger on left is that there is a vein there that directly goes to our heart. And that a wedding band should eventually be worn inside, e-ring only after the wedding band so that wedding band is closer to our heart : )

Now that I have another problem, my bf given me a diamond ring 3 years back for present. I told him that I do not want another diamond ring therefore he bought cartier trinity to propose. hmm...

This is what I had always heard.

But, like many have already said...it's different in other cultures.
