Engagement Ring - what do you think of this finger coverage?

If you are certain that this will be your only upgrade, definitely go to a jewelry store and try on different carat weights. Once you do this, choose the largest stone (that looks the best on your hand) that you can comfortably afford. If you start out too small with your upgrade you will get diamond envy and eventually want larger. Trust me! On a 2.5 finger, I think 1 and 1/4 would look massive and lovely on you. Then once you halo it the finger coverage will be significant but not overwhelming. Plus it will have presence if you wear the ering alone. Good luck deciding!

Thank you! I’ve been messing about with diamdb.com & we like the coverage a 1.5ct solitaire would give me. Do you know what size centre stone I would need to get the same sort of coverage bearing in mind I’ll have a micro halo? I’ll be going into shops soon but enjoying the hunt & research online for now

Me too! I don’t know anyone in real life who has one (all have either round or princess) so I like the idea of having something a little different.

This I’ll definitely be my only upgrade so I’ll bear that in mind!

Is there a way to avoid the bow tie or do all pears have them?
I am not very knowledgeable with pears but there is a company that cuts pears specifically to eliminate the bow tie.
I can't recall who it is.
Perhaps someone else knows who i am referring to?

I think a 1 1/4 with a halo could give the coverage of a 1 1/2 depending on how the halo is placed. But just keep in mind that carats are a unit of weight so you can have a 1 1/4 carat face up like a 1 1/2 and vice versa.

I love pear shape diamonds! I received this ring for our 20th anniversary and to me, the size is perfect. Since it is in a halo setting, I looked for a diamond with a large surface as this is what you see at the end. The diamond’s specs are: F / VS2 / excellent cut and polish (although GIA does not specify the cut of fancy shape diamonds on their certificates). It is a 0.6 ct (7.63x4.88x2.84) and the ratio is 1.56.
By the way, I got my ring from 77diamonds (they are in the UK) and was very happy with the whole purchasing process.
One last comment: pear shape diamonds tend to show more color than round shapes. This is something to remember if you have side stones on your setting.
I hope this can help with your choice :)

Here my 1.54 ct solitaire for size.
I believe my ring size is between a 3.0 and 3.5.
I have relatively small fingers so it actually looks quite large on me. A lot of people mistaken it for a 2 ct (which I don’t mind lol)
My husband initially wanted to get me a 2ct but I told him no because I thought it would be a little too much. :P(But to this day he occasionally complains to me that he should have gotten a 2ct  )4AD2BD37-78DB-4A86-A3F4-418E2F5CC002.jpeg2BEC338A-4F99-4134-AB14-133B929B3744.jpeg

Wow! I absolutely love your ring! What a beautiful setting. Is it rose gold? Most of my jewellery is rose gold but my wedding set is platinum

Wow that looks huge on you!! Really beautiful wedding set.

I looked at some diamonds today & was drawn to the rounds & pears mostly.
I only took photos of the pears. L-R: 2ct, 1.5 & 1ct. Unfortunately only the 2ct had that chubby pear look I’m after. The others are too skinny for my preference
